Pumpkin to stop them eating poop? Both of my babies eat their (and each others) poop  As a rule,I pick up their poop imediately, and I control meal times (3 times a day) so that I also know when they will have to "go",but obviously, there are times when Im not around to pick it up,and that´s when they both go to town. I also know they play with it at first due to all the marks and stains where they have been pushing it and throwing it around..but the poop is always missing :scratchhe This happens mostly during the night. Years ago,I *think* I read somewhere that giving them some pumpkin in their food makes them stop doing this? We cant get any special products to prevent this here,so I have to go with something natural and something that an 8 week old yorkie can eat without it having any negative effects..and being as I already use fresh vegatbles as treats (carrot, peas),I would be OK with using pumpkin. Does anyone know if it works? How would I prepare it? (boiled, raw?) Thank you! :D |
I have never heard of pumpkin. I always heard pineapple. Thats what my friend used and it stopped her dog for eating poop. She just mixed the pumpkin in with there food (: Hope that helps (: |
and then again..... sometimes dogs just eat poop, and other things better not thought about. Stop Dogs Eating Dog Poop - Coprophagia stop your puppy eating dog feces or poo |
I dont thnink pumpkin helps with this it is pineapple |
Could it be a deficiency? I've also read that this happens with grocery store brands of food (pedigree and others like this). It smells the same going in as it does coming out, which entices them to eat it. |
So can I give an 8 week old puppy pineapple? How much/often? |

As for RC being greasy,Yeah,it is..but it really doesnt bother me,as we´re putting salmon oil in their food anyway (Omega 3 etc) for their coats,so even if their kibble was completely dry,I´d still be adding some "oil" to it myself anyway :D |
Pumpkin is for constipation/diarrhea, pineapple is for coprophagia (poop eating). According to my vet is has to be fresh pineapple, not canned. There are pills you can buy that do the same thing as the pineapple (make their poop taste bad). I know you live in Spain but maybe you could order them online and have them shipped? Also remember that if your puppy is eating the poop of other dogs, the other dogs have to eat the pineapple too. |
