Hello - Question
 

My name is Jessica I have two beautiful babies and just purchased a maltese to breed Morkies, however I have a few questions and what better way than to ask here .... :)
My female baby girl yorkie is going to be 5 months next week and she is about 5 pounds, the maltese male I purchased is 10 weeks and he is 2 pounds, I do not want him to be much bigger than my princess. I felt as if he was pick of his litter. Can I get some opinions please or advice? But professional opinions and advice not ignorant opinions and advice. Thank you :animal36

Anyone who says they are a "professional" breeder is solely in it to make money off their dogs. Totally and morally wrong. There are so many beautiful dogs in need of homes that only the BEST representation of the breeds need be bred.

Might I add that I bought my yorkie with the sole intention of breeding her to make money....until I did research and decided otherwise.

You will run the risk of losing her. Or having a C section performed on her. Or she will have the puppies and reject them, which you will have to hand feed them every hour for weeks upon weeks. Are you prepared for that? And so many stories I hear of the breeder getting rid of the pups at 6-8 weeks bc they are just tired of them. So much is taught from the momma between 8-12 weeks. They just should not go that early! And 12 weeks is only 3 months, with the pups growing so much every day, I can't fathom any good breeder wanting to get rid of them before that for just the sake of seeing them grow!

May I ask, why do you want to breed your girl? Please don't say bc she is beautiful, bc they all are.

Also at 5 months she is too young to tell if she is breeding worthy.

Don't make more mutts there are way to many in shelters now. No good breeder breeds mixes.

Why so defensive? Perhaps you should ask admin to repost this in the Breeder Talk section, where there are professional breeders, not in the General section?

I have nothing positive to say about your decision to breed yorkies and maltese pups to produce MORKIES:eek:...or about the fact that you already purchased these pups and are NOW asking questions, advice and or opinions..it saddens me. I hope you will seriously reconsider your decision and go to the breeder section of this forum for the reasons why...I'm sure some others will be along soon for more advice...

I agree , also FYI Morkie is NOT a breed it is a mix & have you looked on Petfinder.com lately ? as it is FULL of perfectly cute healthy dogs who need good homes & too many will die for lack of homes. There are literally hundreds of morkies in shelters needing, wanting, waiting for someone to love. If you plan to be a "Breeder" then you need 2 perfect examples of a breed to start with not 2 diff breeds. Please just forget about breeding & spay/neuter you PETS & let them be just that, PETS. Welcome to YT !:)

How are you going to keep these two from mating when the female goes into heat for the first time because surely you know a female should not be breed during her first heat. I also noticed you said your Maltese is 10 weeks which means you got him from a bad breeder because all good breeders know small dogs should be with there mothers until 12 weeks goodness knows if genetic tests were done and that this is going to be a healthy pup. If you want responses of sunshine and rainbows it's not going to happen because the truth hurts and what you are doing is wrong. So many mixed breed dogs are put down everyday more should not be made. If you really love your female spay her and don't risk her life.

I first joined this site one of the rules was to not incriminate anyone on there questions or opinions. I guess u all forgot to read that. However on another note I would never put my baby in danger. I love my babies very much. It was a simple question!!

All you got was the truth darlin. If you would never put your babies in danger then you would never breed your female period!

I hate these stupid new terms like 'Morkies'. There is no such breed as a Morkie, it is a mutt plain and simple. Nothing wrong with mutts, I have one myself and she's a beautiful dog, but she was from a rescue not from a breeder. There are so many mutts in shelters all over the world why would you want to add more? By breeding mutts and giving them these stupid new made up breed 'names' you are destroying the Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese breed which reputable breeders work hard to maintain. Breeding is not for the faint hearted with any breed, but with small dogs can be much harder. I do hope you reconsider. Breeding should only happen for one reason, to better the breed.

You could try the breeder section but you are not going to get a favorable opinion about breeding morkies from a responsible Yorkie breeder. I think you realize that this is a Yorkie forum. Maybe you can find a "morkie" forum to get advise. There are a multitude of morkies on death row in various shelters. Do you need to make more?

I do not know anything about breeding, but I do know that there are a lot of doggies in shelters that need great homes. I hope that you find the answer you are looking for but in the end i hope you make decision that is best for your dogs

As I realize you did not ask for negative feedback I wonder why you post here then. The majority of the people here are against mixing Breeds. Not saying we do not love the mutts, I myself have three yorkie-poos but, there are so many Morkies, and other Yorkie mixes sitting in shelters and dying because there are no homes for them that it would just make us wonder, what person in their right mind would want to create more????????
