Pet insurance I know nothing about it but I am considering looking into it if it's worth it. How many of you have it and do you recommend it? Just curious. |
hi , i can't advise you to get pet insurance or not that is a very personal decision and it depends on a lot of factors but i can tell you my experience. i did have pet insurance on my boy. after 4 months of payments i decided that i would instead take that $30.00 per month and put it in a savings account. i was thinking , i could be making monthly payment for years and never use the insurance ( a good thing of course ) . all that money would seem to be wasted. so i thought it would make more sense to put it in a special dog expense saving account. |
Hi! I have pet insurance for my yorkie. It's through PetCare. I pay $18/ month and have fairly basic coverage, but mine also includes a tenant package since we are currently renting. It will cover damages he might cause up to $700. Depending on what your situation is, the PP suggestion about putting $$$ aside each month in a special savings account could be a good option too. In my situation it made more sense to get the coverage. We had to put a claim in a few months ago when Davis licked all the adhesive off of a hook for hanging christmas decorations and started vomiting and we took him to the vet. We just faxed it in and they sent us a reimbursment check a few weeks later. I signed up online and haven't had any problems since. Hi there, as you can see I'm a newbie to YT. I wish I had got my insurance when I had planned to. My husband said to just put money in an account each month and IF we ever needed it down the road there would be money there. Rambo is 6 1/2 months now and unfortunately at obedience class he leapt off my knee when he was 5 months old, twisted in mid air and came down on his back leg. Fractured it.... and surgeons still aren't sure if he will end up having surgery done. I had to leave a $1000 deposit on the first visit and they put a splint on his leg for a month and then took it off to let it heal better but he's got to be penned up for the next 8 weeks. If it doesn't heal like they want it to the surgery will be $3500 to $4000. So MY opinion only I would have the insurance. I do have it now which will cover accidents on every part of him EXCEPT his fractured leg from now on. |
