Nail trim problem How to nail trim my yorkie? My yorkie is keep moving when I am trying to trim his nail that make me couldn't trim his nail. Can anyone teach me how to trim his nail? Thanks!!! |
I suggest asking the Vet tech to show you how to do it. |
There are a thread here about it.. BUT I only felt comfortable doing it when a vet tech should me how to do it. (plus reading the thread) |
I don;t know exactly how I did it, I watched the lady at the pet store cut Sheldon's and I said to myself I can do that. I use a cat nail trimmer. I cut little by little until you see a little white dot in the middle, then I stop. I have to put Sheldon on my lap and hold his paw super still. |
I use the Pedipaws on Tibbe and it keeps his nails nice and short and I only have to do it about once every 5 days or so. If I keep it that short in between sessions, each one is way shorter than if I wait for 7 days or so. If you do use nail clippers, just trim the tiniest bit each time and you can't get into too much trouble. |
Some groomers will trim your dog's nails for around $10.00. When I do my dog's nails I have someone else hold her on their lap for me. Once you have hurt a dog by cutting the nail too close they tend to be very afraid of the procedure. There is a grinder type of tool that files the nail down rather than clipping it. They come at various prices. It is much safer than cutting but now that your pet is afraid you may still need someone to hold him. Oster Gentle Paws Nail Trimmer | PetEdge.com |
Thanks for all reply!!! :D it helped a lot!!! |
I have tried to do and have decided it is easier for me to have the groomer do it. I'm lucky in that the groomer I used to take Hot Rod to offers nail clippings and anals for $2.00 each. They do this 4 days a week. |
