White Yorkie? Hi guys, my husband and I bought our yorkshire terrier yesterday from a lady. We were told she was 9 month old, and that she couldn't look after her anymore due to moving into an apartment. Why that would stop her from looking after her, i really don't know. Anyhow, she said she didn't have papers for the dog but we fell in love with her so bought her anyway. Anyway, her fur is such an unusual colour, i've never seen a yorkie like her before. Her ears are tan, and on her back is steel grey but the rest of her fur looks pure white! I was just wondering if it's normal for her to be so white, and do you think she will stay the colour she is, or will she change colour again as she gets older? |

could you post a pic so we can see what she looks like? |
Welcome to YT and the wonderful world of Yorkies:D I am not sure about the white but Georgie's grey looks almost white sometimes. Also if I let his hair grow longer which he usually has a puppy cut hit grows out grey and then when he is groomed he has so much black especially on his back and sides. |
From what you are describing in colour, the furnishings, the parts that should be a shaded tan or shaded gold are a cream or white instead. That is not unusual, it can happen that she had gone very light and likley will go lighter in colour. She could still be a purebred. |
Thank you for your response. I will post a picture of her :) |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a picture of mollie, she was sprawled out asleep on my husband's knee. |
Thank you lorraine, she looks like a yorkie for sure, she's such a beautiful dog but i thought it was unusual how light she is as i've not seen a yorkie the same as her before! |
Hi there and welcome, looking forward to pics. |
If she is truly white and not light tan she could e a parti yorkie. |
Hi, and welcome...also congratulations! :D Enjoy that luscious color...it may not last long! :p I got Brody at 14 months old, and his "tan" was a very light, gorgeous cream color also. However, since 5/4/11 when I got him and now, a glorious, darker, golden tan has taken over most of that beautiful light cream color on his face and ears...his leg furnishings, chest, and the back of his neck are still that soft banana cream color. Mia is completely golden...a very light, golden, blond color...almost the same color as Brody's light color...with no more sign of her black saddle except darker skin tones by the time I got her at 17 months old, and since I got her on 8/13/11, a beautiful, darker, golden tan is coming in under the creamy, light, golden blond. While living in Germany many years ago, the "USA military TV station was NTSC...the USA TV standard,, but the German TV was PAL with very true color due to additional lines on which were transmitted the colors of everything. We always called NTSC "Never The Same Color" because grass would be one color in one show and a different in the next and commercial breaks. PAL was the same consistent color. Kind of like Yorkies, but I personally love the kaleidoscope color of Yorkies!!! Just when they change to colors you love, they find a new color for you to enjoy! :yorkiesar |
We would love pictures ! Welcome to YT. Congrats on your new Yorkie. |
mollie is absolutely gorgeous. in my opinion she looks like a parti color yorkie.. i love her long flowing coat.. |
Mollie is a beauty. I'd say she is a parti. The breeder I got Zoey from does breed parti's. I saw quite a few and Zoey does carry the parti gene although she is spayed. Parti's are very pretty. Cherie |
Congratulations on your beautiful new baby! I think you have a very pretty parti Yorkie, or perhaps even a Biewer....is her tail docked? Docked tail, she is a parti colored yorkie....Biewer's tails remain undocked. She will forever remain the color you see today, and looks to be marked nicely! |
Welcome! Aw...Mollie is just gorgeous...I really love her coat:thumbup: |
