Well now I know Chachi can swim My Husband was out by our koi pawn with a grabber grabbing algae. Any time he does anything in the back yard Chachi is right in the middle of it. My Husband said his view is of Chachis butt. Anyway he was balancing himself on the rocks around the pond and I quess he lost his balance and fell in. He then swam to the other side of the pond and got out. That is the first time he has swam without a lifejacket on. I was glad to see he could get himself out if he did fall in. I still dont take any chances and dont let either him or Jewels out there unless we are out there. We are kinda lucky Our front yard is also fenced so I can let them out there to go potty |

I would love to know for sure if Tibbe can swim to safety but like you would be too worried to check him out by allowing a swim without a lifejacket. Hooray for Chachi and his swimming abilities and getting himself to safety! |

I've always heard that if you have a pool or pond you should put them in it and teach them how to get out. Unfortunately there no good way out of our pond, so I've really just taught Joey to stay away from it. I don't let them go out alone, and so far no problems, but it's does worry me. |

I am so glad Chachi can swim! We put Georgie in the pool a couple of times and he just doggy paddles like mad. However, he doesn't like it much so he usually stays away. |

We had a similar experience with Sadie. My DH was walking her around his mother's back yard in Mississippi. She slipped into the neighbor's yard and he wasn't worried because it was bordered by the bayou. She went right up to the edge and jumped in. He said that she looked back at him like "Daddy - I screwed up!". She was swimming though and was headed for the other side, so he jumped in after her up to his waist. All he could think of was all the snakes and snapping turtles that live in the bayou and that nothing had better happen to her on his watch. She didn't start shaking till I took her in to bathe her. That's really good new that Chachi figured out how to get out. |

My cats are totally unaffected with the fish. We have a platform rock that goes up to the pond that gives you alot of access to the fish and they will e on it drinking water with fish swimming all around there head and they wont do a thing. They see us feeding them and stuff so I quess they know they are pets |

We put just enough water in the tub for Luma to not be able to stand up normally, and it taught her to swim. Now where she feared a bath before, she actually tries to jump into the tub when I'm taking a bubblebath. |

That\'s great!! We have a pool and Max slipped on in. I was 3 feet away so I scooped him him very quickly and he had already started paddling. Since then, my husband has taken him and started working with him in the pool. Yorkies are very coordinated and athletic. |

Last summer when Mina was a puppy, I took her in the pool with me. I kept my hand under her tummy and let her swim that way. Then each time she swam I started moving my hand a little more away from her tummy. I wanted to make sure that she could swim, she still wears a lifejacket. She has figured out that she can stay in the water longer and wont go under if her jacket is on. That reminds me I need to get it out and see if it still fits. If not I will need to get her a new one. |

so glad that Chachi was able to get out on his own. Must have been scary. Since we boat alot, I have life jackets for both of mine but we also put them in the water without them so they could get the feel of swimming without it on just in case they should ever fall in somehow. I wanted to make sure that they knew what to do with and without the jacket on. |
