spoiling We just got Khloe on last Wednesday. She is now 16 weeks old. My family think I am spoiling her because she likes to lay in my lap. She does play and I do place her in her crate. I told them that I recalled Kirby did the same thing until she got older and wanted to be more on her own. Can you spoil a yorkie puppy? I am not holding her 24/7. |
I have 2 adult Yorkies and a 13 week old puppy. They all take turns laying at my feet or in my lap. These are companion dogs. They want to be with people. Enjoying that attention is not wrong. It sounds like you are doing right. |
Who cares what people say. If you like holding her and she likes it go for it. Dogs don't live as long as humans so enjoy the time you have with them you never know how long it will last. Callie is spoiled but it dosent bother me to say so or when other people say it. |
90% of the time I have one on each side of me. Yes, my family thinks they are spoiled but well to be honest they are! :p:D But if it doesn't bother you then don't worry about it. It is your dog. So do what you want as far as letting the little one on your lap. :) |
The joy of other's opinions  You know what, you spoil your Yorkie and hold her as much as you want. She's your furbaby, and your friend. Gizmo is spoiled rotten by my husband and I and we're proud of it! I think, when it comes to opinions, my favorite quote is, "Opinions are like @$$holes, everybody has one..." Be sure to posts pictures of your baby!:) |
Thanks for your comments. I am enjoying this so much. I love both of my furgirls so much. I love the fact that Khloe loves my lap. As I stated earlier Kirby is older now and tends to like to be come and go more. Khole is such a sassy little sweetie.:) She loves kissing and snuggling. Kirby doesn't mind because she can come for some loving and then go . |
Do what makes you and your p happy. Holding is not wrong. If I had to do it over again, I would have held my girl less as a pup because I do think she would be more confident if I hadn't. |
people usually don't understand unless they own a yorkie themselves...i use to think people who dressed their dog, carried them in purses etc were nuts... and swore i'd never do that.. i use to think that i'd always only ever own a big "real dog". but i decided to get a small dog as my first dog..and now it all makes sense! u dress them coz they're cold and also cute in it,they like it too! u carry them in purses because they actually like being with u at all times. they melt u'r heart and have u wrapped around thier paw and now i'm obsessed and addicted to yorkies, they're the best dogs ever!.. noone will truly understand it until they have one. i know i didn't before, but now that i do i wouldn't have it any other way! if people knew half the stuff i did for my dog i'd be critisied too and told she's spoiled etc.. but don;t listen to them because they have no idea what its like!my dads the same way..its his grandfurbaby.. hes always showing people at work photos of her and talking about her and they think he's fallen off his rocker..he even took her for a walk in her pink sweater the other day..HAHA.. but she has him wrapped around her paw too.. my mother is spoiling her too, its contagious! |
I personally don't believe you can spoil puppies or babies by loving on them. All babies, skin & fur, need the security of knowing their needs will be met. |

A few years back I traded my favorite chair in the den for a fainting couch so there would be enough room for all 5 to sit with me at once. Personally I feel as though I am the one being spoiled. My babies love me and enjoy my company. |
