I think it would be wonderful to offer to doggy sit or arrange play dates.
A really good idea would to give the owner when and if they come a lil photo album of her and your family and the time she spent with you.

I I lost one of mine I'd be loosing it with grief and after found I know I'd LOVE to see pics of how they were while away & to be at ease knowing they were loved and well cared for.

I'd want to stay on contact with a person who cared enough to take in and love my furkid and not only that but to put in so much effort to returm them to me.:)

another update... She hadn't wanted to play much but today I took her to my moms for a playdate with her rat terrier and she found one of his balls. It was slightly to big for her mouth and smooth so difficult for her to pick up but she played with it for an hour. I got some smaller balls on the way home and she has been playing fetch with my girls for a while. Now she is curled up sleeping from all the fun. :)

She sounds like a real sweetie. If her owners aren't found it sounds like she will have a great home.

She has shown more of her personality today. She make little growling noises when she plays but she is wagging her tail so I know she is having fun. I gave her treat this morning and she hid it in her blanket. She then turned to me wagging her tail and "talked" to me until I got up and found it. Then she ate it. She likes to "talk" while we play. She will make little noises while moving her mouth.

This is a very good sign! She's feeling 'at home' enough to relax with you. Reading this thread, my heart swells with what seems to be a happy ending! I (honestly) don't want to think she was left out on purpose; perhaps she was traveling with family, and got away on a potty break?

Also, I'm not sure anyone else has mentioned this, as I did not read every post; but please be cautious when looking for her "real" owner. Make them identify her with something only her owner would know. A physical attribute, perhaps. Some people's motives for wanting to 'adopt' a yorkie are not honorable. They see 'designer dog = $$", or might even sell to dog fights as bait dog. SO HORRIFIC.

Anyway, thank you for rescuing and giving her a forever home! :love:

I have been asking for pictures. I have had one person that sent me a picture and this clearly wasn't her dog but she kept making excuses why she might look different. I got a really bad feeling about her and ended all contact with her. The humane society says I only have to look for her owner for 30 days until I can concider her mine but I think I'm going to wait 3 months. I have talked to a few people looking for their dogs that have been missing for a couple months. It doesn't feel right to just look for 30 days. I would miss this little girl if her owner is found but if I had been her owner and lost her I would be heart broken.

:thumbup:...Very good. It seems you are going about this in the best way.

Yes, I'm sure her family does miss her, if she got away accidentally.

I haven't figured out how to add another picture. I wish I could because the pictures I put on her are the ones I took the day after I found her and she looks kind of pitiful. She is adorable. I am so glad that your husband had a "change of heart". Mine did the same thing recently.
