It was a very rough night last night. Diamond delivered 3 puppies-- 2 girls and 1 boy that went off without a hitch. She was being such a good mom. She did everything by herself. The fourth one, a girl, got her head turned and her neck broke. So we had to do a c-section to save the last one. It’s a boy, so we have 2 girls and 2 boys. They babies and mom are doing just fine. The first 3 are black and tan the last one is chocolate in color. They weigh from 4 oz to 5.8 oz. |

I'm so glad this dog was rescued in time. She could have died trying to deliver that pup on her own. I hope people who considering casual breeding for "fun" will take note of this poor little one's delivery. |

Casual breeding is not fun, and this precious girl, isn't what is considered tiny. We guess her Pre-Pregnant weight to be maybe 7 1/2 pounds to 8 pounds. So it's not only the tinies that can have problems. You can rest assured this Mom and her babies are well loved and are taken very good care of. When it comes time to find them adoptive homes you can be assured they will be good ones. I am one of the applications processors for our Rescue Group and I check everything and I mean everything before a home visit is even set up. |
I once assisted in the birth of a litter of Maltese. The mom was 9 pounds. She ended up with a pup caught in the birth canal. Also cause for a section. The one that was held up died while two others lived. It can happen to any size of dog and it does happen more often then people know. Hope this little girl recovers quickly. |
