I think my yorkie has eating some of the little balls in those do not eat packs that they put in shoe boxes. He had the pack in his mouth and had it tore open. I found the ball all over my rug. Has anyone else had this happen?

its silica gel.

Silica gel packets are found in boxes of new shoes and purses and
sometimes in medicine bottles.

• Silica gel is a drying agent, meant to take the humidity out of the object in which it is placed

• Silica gels are a form of silicon dioxide, which is basically the same
material as sand

• Silica gel is non-toxic meaning that it is not poisonous if eaten, but all packages say,” DO NOT EAT,” because it is not food!

• Even though silica gel is not harmful if ingested, it can still be harmful as a choking hazard. If a small child or animal were to put the silica gel packet in his/her mouth, it could easily become lodged in the throat and cause choking.

unless the child starts to have trouble breathing then they should be fine
but get the packet away from them now!!

Thanks, I was worried. I did look it up also. He is ok. I just freaked out when I saw what he had. All I knew is it said do not eat. He is in to everything in the mornings when we get up and start cooking and the kids are getting ready for school. That is when he gets most of his treats. He will drop anything for a green bean.

i am glad he's ok.
Yeah, my oscar is the same way.
I am constantly walking around looking at floor for stuff to pick up before he does, lol
