Hello There, New to YT
 
Hello Everybody, my name is Arlene and my little boy is called Rambo. I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada. Rambo just turned 6 months old last Wednesday. In February he jumped off my knee, landed wrong on a hard floor and ended up fracturing his left hind leg. The surgeons decided instead of surgery to try keeping his leg straight and putting a splint on it and see how that went AND I was to keep him restful, no running, jumping. Yeah right!!!! 5 months old and to rest??? He used the splint to catapult himself when he was running around the house.

The splint is off now as they want him to try and use the leg more so we go back on Wednesday for another X-ray and hopefully it's healing like they wanted. Wish me Luck. If not, then he will have to have surgery with plates and pins.

Hi there Arlene, welcome Rambo and his mom to YT, glad always to see new folks joining the YT family. sorry about Rambo's leg injury, praying healing will take hold and no surgery will be needed.
I know you are both going to be happy you joined this wonderful group.

Hello Arlene and welcome! Sorry to hear Rambo hurt his leg - hope the splinting worked for him! I think you will enjoy this forum and learn a lot about these guys/gals!

Hi there! Welcome to YT!!!! Hope that Rambo heals quickly... those little guys think they are bigger than they are, which can definitely get them into trouble sometimes. I have to continuously remind my 3 not to jump off the side of the couch!

Welcome to YorkieTalk! It is very hard to keep them calm and from not running around especially a pup. I hope that his leg healed right and will keep him in my prayers.

OMGoodness! The poor dear! And you, too... I so very much hope the splint worked and the ordeal is over! You will post an update, and hopefully some pix of Rambo soon, won't you? :hands: that all goes well :goodluck::xfingers:

Thanks for all the welcomes. The splint is off but he was using the leg too much. Rambo is to be kept crated for the next 8 weeks. I cheated a little and have him in a pen with a bed and a pee pad. About one foot space between both. He's just so active though. I open the gate of the pen to let him out for a little exercise and he ran between my legs, over to the couch, leaps up, runs along and JUMPS off the other side. The joys of having an injured 6 month old boy.

Surgeons still haven't given the all clear on no surgery yet... so I am keeping him penned and as inactive as well as I possibly can

I'm sorry I haven't written before this but I couldn't find where I had posted my hello originally. I'm still fuguring out my way on YT.

I will read up on posting pictures and send some of my handsome little man.

welcome to yorkie talk and thank you for updating on rambo. trying to keep him calm sounds like a very hard job! i do hope and pray that his little leg heals up and he can go back to being a crazy little boy again very soon. please keep us updated on his progress and post some pictures of him when you have time! glad you found yorkietalk, look forward to hearing more about rambo! love the name too! sending hugs
