Question on Toy Boxes/Baskets I wanted to try to give a few of these toy baskets as gifts and prizes. I was wondering if those of you that have toy baskets if you let the dogs go in them themselves or do you keep them on a counter or use a tall one they can not get into. I bought a small one that Lola could get into to but the toys were never in the basket, she pulled everyone out which meant I had about 15 all over the house and none ever in the basket, so I started to wonder the point of the basket. I wound up putting the basket on the counter in the laundry room and give her a few different toys each day. I found some baskets that were cute and i wanted to personalize them, but I now realize they are to tall for most yorkies to get into so I can't decide if I should take the baskets back. |
You could teach her to pick up her toys! After my son's dogs leavem toys are all over the house, Joey has been trained to pick them up, he gets a piece of kibble for each toy he returns to the basket. First we taught him to just bring them to me, then we taught him to drop them in a basket. |
I couldn't get my "skin" kids to pick up their toys!!!! I just leave the basket out and they take out which ever ones they want. |

Good, send him to my house! Lol! Tink is going to sorry I read this!:D |
ZoE doesn't have a "basket", she has a wood toy box that I built out of scrap wood & trim. It's low enough for her to get her toys out. I wouldn't ever use a woven wicker type basket as ZoE would chew on it and that's a major choking/intestinal blockage hazard. |
Yoshi and Miss Priss has a big toy box that is shaped like a bone, I got it several years ago for Yoshi and Miss Priss loves it too...she drags out most of the toys and each evening I put them up. So I need one of you here to teach my babies how to put their toys away... |
I leave the toy basket down all the time because they are her toys not mine :D |
you guys are all such good momma's letting their babies leave their toys out, so unless you pick them up do any of them stay in the toy box. I think if she only got out the ones she wanted it would not be so bad, but she is not happy till she takes them all out then plays with only a couple |
I leave toys out in the toy boxes for them. I love when I come home and find toys all over the kitchen - I love knowing they are having fun while I'm not around. |
Mine always leave some in the toy box and yes it is where they can get them anytime they want. They seem to have favorite toys that they want all the time. |
I tried Lola with the taller toy box it was so funny because filled up she was able to stand on her hind legs and grab a toy or several but in true Lola style she wound up diving in head first and all you could see was the white of her tail and butt sticking straight up, in the air, then she started hoping in and out of it, then I caught her just sitting in it, with this smile like Mom this is the best bed ever:D She was like a kitty that OD'd on catnip. I left the room for a while and when I got back most of the toys were out of the box and scattered all over :aimeeyork Next time I will have to get a video. |
Bella has a wire basket for her toys. We keep it one the floor so she can in it when ever she wants. |
When I first started using the toy basket Gracie did not get the concept. She would take every toy out of the basket as soon as I put them in. Gradually she stopped doing that. Now I only have three or four toys on the floor most of the time. The only time I have a problem now is when I vacuum because she thinks I am taking her toys away from her as I pick them up. She is very possessive of her things. |
