I refuse to teach my pup to sit!
 

I just read a post by 107Barney regarding Teddy's Leggs Perthe issue, it triggered me to tears.

My Miss Mini began hopping one day, the next day she was at an Ortho Surgeon, the next she was operated on. She was only 9mnths old. My poor little baby essentially had no hip. It was as the vet said, "one of the worst cases of Legges I've ever seen"..because she was so young it had to be done asap. Poor Teddy has to endure his pain until the right time for the surgery to be a success, I can't imagine this...I can't imagine watching him limp through this...knowing...

6 Years later, and I now have Mia the puppy! Miss Mini loves when I am training her to pretend I'm training her too (treats probably have something to do with this), so when I say go potty to Mia, Mini waits her turn to go potty, stay Mia becomes stay Mini, lay down Mia becomes laydown Mini...Sit Mia=a tilted head with the look of "Mom I can't" on Mini's face, breaks my heart...don't get me wrong she has her version of sitting, but to sit on command is not something she can do LIKE MIA DOES, so I've decided no more SIT MIA, laydown only!

Thanks Cathy for reminding me, how lucky I am despite "our issues"...I'm praying for Teddy and hope his sitch is resolved soon..

That makes me want to cry, too. So very sad. Who needs to sit anyway?

Your story has made me sad and touched my heart. What a great mommy you are for being sensitive to your babies needs and accommodating both.

I agree with you! Poor little baby. It's hearbreaking when our helpless little ones are dealing with terrible diseases.

I know exactly what you are saying too. My Mylee had the FHO surgery (twice) for HD. My vet didn't give us much hope she would ever use her leg again, much less normally. However, today unless you know, you'd never know she didn't have her hip joint. She carries her leg some when she runs, and she can't bare the weight (sit up purty) standing on her back legs for more than a few seconds, while Moka can sit like that all day. But she still knows what it means and she still tries to do it, bless her heart. I know that look you're talking about. I also feel lucky despite her issues. She's my baby. :)

I agree please pass the tissues. Some of the little fosters I have worked with have some sort of health issue or problem. When his elderly human died, I had Joey a 16 year old Yorkiepoo (?) with bad knees. Surgery was not an option. (I kept him until he passed away, we had him 9 months.) It was heart breaking to see him try to walk normaly.
