Awwww she is super cute! |
She is wonderful congrats to you & family |
She is beautiful! So glad to hear that the little boy has found a family also. I love the second picture with the red bow! And I do believe Pixie is a very fitting and cute name! As far as the congenital conditions go, I know luxating patella is one condition and liver shunt is another condition that the little ones get. I know the vet can palpate (or feel) the knees to see how bad a luxating patella is (I always ask my vet to check Jack's patellas to make sure his are ok). Liver shunt I think may need some tests - I am not a vet here and just my opinion, I would not ask for any tests unless my pup showed signs of illness. These are two of the things that you should make yourself familiar with. I would definitely get your little on within the 72 hours to keep the health guarantee intact. I would think that you would be able to tell within the first year if there are going to be any congenital problems. Again, I'm not a vet, but just my opinion. Maybe someone else with more experience with these things could share their advice. Oh, and try to get her used to brushing her teeth - these little ones really can get bad teeth rather quickly - they are prone to it so good oral hygeine is a must. Good luck with your new baby - she is absolutely adorable! |
She's precious! Congratulations.:) |
Thank you everyone! We have had a very busy day around here lol! I've been meaning to ask how often everyone's brushes their yorkie's teeth?? |
Congrats! Brushing teeth....well, for us Copper is very uncooperative so we don't really do this. But now that you have reminded me, we will try to start it up again. I bought a brush to go on my finger. I thought it might be easier. We will see. Love the name for your girl. |
lol I bet there isn't many dogs that enjoy it! I need to get a toothbrush for her and start her young I suppose! I just wonder if some ppl do it daily or is it more like a once a week type thing.... |
Adorable, nothing like a baby in the house. Congrats. |
Little Miss Pixie is a beauty. You'll be head over heals in love real soon. Congradulations. |
i don't brush mines teeth every day not sure if others do.... I usually do it when I give her a bath, I figure she is already mad at me might as well add fuel to the fire!! LOL |
Vet check is kind of like a "well baby" checkup. Listen to heart and lungs, check knees, make sure that eyes are clear, check baby teeth to make sure they are all in. Shots only if it is time. I sent my breeder an email when we got home from the vet, just to let her know that Mina was doing well. Liver shunt is a bile acid blood test done at or after 15 weeks. All of mine (5) get their teeth brushed everyother day or more often. I use the little finger cuff with bristles and peanutbutter flavored toothpaste. Even the chi likes it. |
Thank you SO much everyone! I love it here, so many nice people and SO much info! I was just talking to my mom about the bile test, definitely something I want to do when she is old enough. I just bought Pixie her first toothbrush and toothpaste tonight so I will give it a try soon! I was thinking of trying to brush them at least once a week, maybe more if she tolerates it ok! |
