Ticks! Arg! Its going to be a long spring/summer... :/ Because of the unusually warm winter, I was already having a horrible time with insects. I live on the outskirts of my town in a heavily wooded area and the past few days the ticks have gotten terrible here! I even found one in my bed this morning! I assume it dropped off one of the dogs, but this is just crazy. Topping it off, I just had to remove one from behind Gwenni's ear. Frontline has always kept the ticks at bay in years past and we always look the dogs over after coming in from a walk. Apparently, that's not enough this year. I'm just glad we do keep a look out for them. I'm going to have to figure out a way to step up my anti-tick game. Anyone else having an unusually high amount of critters? Any steps you take to keep them out? |
I don't know much about ticks. Sorry your having to deal with them. :( I did mention the flea medication my vet recently recommended and someone posted it seemed to possibly be helping with the ticks on there babies. It's that vectra topical stuff. I don't know much about it, but maybe you can look into it. Just a suggestion. I bet it has to be frustrating to see ticks on your babies. Good luck! |
When you come in, toss your clothes in the dryer. It will kill any ticks on clothes, in folds, seams etc. Use lemon and eucalyptus oil. It's a natural deterrent. You can get essential oils and add them to coconut oil and put it on you, hubby, the dogs, and even spray it on clothes and shoes. It's 100% safe. |
Oh my I think I would have died if I found one in my bed. We haven't had a terrible time yet but Callie had one on her yesterday and its not time to retreat yet so I hope it isn't gonna be bad but my grandpa already has plans to spray the yard this year with stuff that is safe after it drys. When I used Frointline it was like the ticks here where drawn to it so we use Adavantix and it normally does pretty great. |
I had one crawling on my leg last week! Yuck! I'm wondering if it fell off Jackson (because he is on Frontline at the moment) and came on to me. I HATE ticks!! I'm going to get him on Advantix next month. It works much better for us. |
I am already battling the stupid things! I used vectra 3d this time on my girls. Just 1/2 a tube each. It is killing the ticks but not repelling them. I also started back on Minksheen. It can't hurt to use it. We have had so much rain here but as soon as it dries up little we are going to treat the yard as well. I live in the country so I feel your pain. :( |
Ugh! We pulled a big one out of Roxie's hair the other day and I just about freaked out. We have her on Frontline, and she also just had her Lyme vaccine last week. |
