Shame on me...?? We are getting our new puppy tomorrow and are very excited about it. I was a little concerned about only having a quick weekend to work on potty training until we went back to work on Monday. Well, we got the call we were expecting last night that my husbands step-dad passed away. Now I feel kinda bad that we will have a few extra days to work on training and hanging out with our new baby. Hubby is still excited to get our "his" baby tomorrow and thinks its fine to use some time this way... Should I just get over it? |
Sorry to hear about husbands step dad. I'm sure the puppy will make the loss a little bit easier. Don't feel bad. Things happen that' out our control. |
I'm sorry to hear about your DH's step dad. I wouldn't feel bad. Its all circumstancial. I doubt the new arrival will keep you from family matters as you plan and attend services, and the extra time will be helpful. It'll all work out. Things happen for a reason, so maybe her arrival at this difficult time will bring a ray of sunshine at an otherwise sad and difficult time in your lives. |
You and your family have my condolences on the passing of your DH’s step Dad. It is always a hard thing to go through, I do agree with Shelly and think things happen for a reason. Hopefully the love of this baby girl will give you and your DH some comfort at this hard time. |
Sorry about your husbands step-dad but a puppy is a great way to heal the heart. |
Thank you so very much for the kind thoughts. You guys are so sweet...:) |

My sympathies to you and your DH over the loss of his step-dad, although you said you 'were expecting' to get that call...so I'd guess that a lot of 'grieving' may have already been done in advance of his actual passing...which may help you to understand why your DH is still excited about getting your "his" new baby. For you, however, perhaps, you need more time...I would never suggest that you just "get over" something like the loss of a loved one. Since your DH is looking forward, as are you...though clouded by this loss...to getting your "his" new baby, perhaps you can allow him his emotion in this case. You can still feel the loss and the joy at the same time with the knowledge that all things pass. I would not want you to miss out on the happiness of the new baby because of this loss, and I doubt his step-dad would either. Our best to you through this tragic but joyous time. Take care. |
