I have to agree...keep an eye out...what is not normal has some meaning even if you never actually realize what it was. I have seen many animals, cats and dogs, do some apparently weird 'protection' behavior. I had 3 kitties build a triangular invisible 'fence' around me one night...all facing away as if they were watching out for something. I'd step out of their 'fence' and they'd adjust and build a new 'fence' keping me dead in the middle. It was so odd, I called DH from the yard on my cell and he came out of the house and watched. Then, when he got to me, he stayed out of their 'fence' and they rebuilt it around both of us. We tested this behavior for about 30 minutes together and they continued rebuilding every time we breached their invisible fence. To this day, I have no idea what they were really all about that night. Good boy, Pnut! :D |
When your Yorkie acts different, it is a warning. I absolutely belive this. I have told family and friends to get themselves checked when their dog acted weird. My friend had skin cancer where her dog kept licking. When my mother's blood sugar was high Ruby licked her legs and whined every time. When I was was feeling bad and thought I was catching a cold, I went to bed early. Both Gracie and Rubin were obsessed with licking my face. So I went to the doctor the next day and had a serious staph infection in my tear duct, not a cold at all. My brothers Husky warned him about an earth quake. My sister's poodle woke them up when the furnace wasn't lighting, Gracie heard my neighbor yelling when he fell and broke his arm (I didn't hear him) I found him on his kitchen on the floor. Etc..... |
Without getting all mushy  I have always believed that the better you know your animal (of any species) the better they communicate with you. A lot of people brush it off as nothing, good for you for recognizing it. |

Wow that is so crazy!! It is probably driving you crazy to not know what those little angels were doing!! It is kinda driving me crazy Haha. I’m going to keep an eye out for sure, See how he treats DH in the next couple of days!! Animals are such a blessing- I never understood how people can think different! |

We went to bed about 11. I put Pnut on the bed with him he just sat up and watched... waiting for Daddy! I feel asleep and woke up about 1:30 and Pnut was laying next to me... Finally DH came home and Peanut was so excited and went to sleep LOL |
On top of that sixth sense, Yorkie's use their five senses so very well. Tibbe is the most excellent watch dog and I feel so safe that if any strange smell comes on the property or he hears a strange sound, he will alert me. I know when the mail comes from Tibbe's single little yip, even though I cannot hear the mail being put in the box myself - it's just too far away. But he hears it and smells the postman and let's me know. If he starts to growl or bark while lying on the couch in the den at the back of the house, if I am fast enough to go look, I usually see a person walking down the sidewalk either still on the property or just off it - or a group of school-age kids across the street, a man getting out of a car next door, a stray dog walking down the alley - something like that. Add that sixth sense we don't know much about, it really is a smart thing to have a Yorkie - that breed takes very little that is strange or different for granted. |

I can always tell if there is a cat in the front yard - besides the loud and frenzied barking coming from the living room, I can hear his little paws digging at the glass of the floor-length window, trying to get through it! |

In Peanut's case, he may have even heard a change in the breathing sounds your DH was making...they can hear outside the range we can hear. It may have been nothing but a teensy congestion that your DH cleared by coughing, but at least now you know that Peanut is 'on the job' :D There's no such thing as a dumb animal. |

That is true, it could have been something that small. It does seem after DH coughed and got up Peanut wanted to go back in his crate LOL. Who knows, I am thankful enough to know “ Peanut is on the job”!! |
