Milo is in the house! Finally! He is such a little sweetheart. He did so well during the road trip to pick him up he didn't misbehave and not a touch of car sickness. Just in this short time he has really become attached to me, he follows me everywhere. He is eating and drinking fine and all the plumbing works, boy does the plumbing work. He hasn't went #2 yet but I'll keep an eye on him tomorrow. He is a lot smaller than I thought, much smaller than my first Yorkie KoKo. Milo is about 10 weeks and I don't know how much he weighs but it isn't much.Pretty hard to tell at this age I suppose. He has tons of energy and seems to be well adjusted, he loves to play with his new stuff I bought. I got him a small bed but my bed has already become the resting place of choice, which is fine by me, especially during the early days when I want to keep a close eye on him. I din't get a lot of pictures since he won't stop moving long enough for me to focus. I'll post 4 and hopefully I will get more tomorrow....correction to my the earlier part of my post, Milo just pinched a loaf on the pad I put out so I know everything is working. Anyway, I'll get more photo's tomorrow after things calm down a bit. I have spent most of the day getting him used to me, touching him all over and such. He responded well to the touchy feely session and there wasn't much biting or fussing, really smooth. Some dogs don't like having their feet touched but Milo didn't seem to mind. It was good to see since I don't want too much fighting come nail trimming time. All in all it has been a really good day, Milo is a sweetheart and I couldn't be happier with him. Everything I have seen tells me he is going to be a great dog. I don't want to bore you anymore so here are the pictures, wish me luck and bring on the advise.:D:aimeeyork http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d25/bondai/milo4.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d25/bondai/milo3.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d25/bondai/milo2.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d25/bondai/milo1.jpg |
Congratulations and welcome to YT. He looks very sweet and I'm sure you'll be best buddies forever. Be careful he doesn't fall or jump from your bed. He will break a leg. Stairs or ramps are wonderful for these little one's. Enjoy your little one. |
Congratulations! He's a cutie! Glad to hear that he's settling in so well and already forming an attachment to you. It's great that you're thinking ahead and touching his paws in preparation for future nail trimming. I did the same with ZoE. I made a point to touch her paws, ears and mouth daily for the first month. Our vet really appreciated it as ZoE was, & still is, very easy for him to examine. |
Ahh Milo. He's cute. Great name. :) |

What a handsome boy! Glad he's home with you now! |
Milo is a cutie. Did the breeder tell you how often to feed him & to keep nutrical on hand in case of hypoglycemia ? Glad to hear the plumbing is working. |
Congratulations. He is adorable of course. Hope you have a good first night. When I brought Gracie home the first night I put her in a carrier on my bed. Well, that didn't last long as she cried. I folded up a towel and put it beside me and she curled up on it and went to sleep with my arm wrapped around her so I would know if she got up. She did get up once during the night. She walked into the carrier and went pee and then walked back over to the towel and went back to sleep! I knew then that she was going to be easy to house break. I just kept the pee pad near the bed for just in case she had to go during the night. Thankfully she was a good sleeper and rarely had to go during the night but I was careful to keep her close to me. Having raised several children, I am a light sleeper. Hope you get some sleep tonight. |
He is just beautiful!! |
I am not clear on the whole feeding cycle and the nutrical. Do you think you could help me out. Thanks |
Milo was doing some crying when I first brought him home but he has settled down pretty well. We will see how the first knight goes. |
Nutracal is used with small puppies when they are not getting enough nutrition from eating. Their blood sugar can go low and they seem to want to sleep a lot and get listless. This should not happen if he is eating well. Hopefully the breeder gave you some of what they have been feeding him so there is no change in diet. A diet change can bring on diarrhea and some real issues. Ideally a young puppy like yours should eat at least 4 times a day. He is not going to eat a huge amount but he does need to eat some. He may be used to eating food that has been softened with water. Your breeder should let you know about that. |
She actually covered everything pretty well but there is a lot to absorb, I just wasn't clear about this one issue and I appreciate you taking the time to explain it. Thanks |
How many times has he eaten today & does he eat well when he eats or does he just nibble ? |
He has eaten 3 or 4 times today but not a lot each time. But I have given him some Blue Bits dog treat 2 or 3 times in between meals. |
