Help!!!
 

I just recently moved home to Pennsylvania to my parents since my husband just deployed (we used to live in va beach). My yorkie has become infested with fleas, he's scratching so much that he's loosing hair on his bottom and sides. I am also noticing that he's getting raised bumps and he's chewing himself so much that he's causing his self to bleed :( I have never ever had an issue with fleas but living here a week (today) its been awful I could cry I feel so bad for him. I've tried fleas treatments, shampoos and sprays nothing seems to help. My parents even sprayed the yard where my Bentley plays and he's still coming in with tons on him. Are there any suggestions of what I could do to help?! I know your not supposed to bath them a lot but I'm finding I need to once a week just to get them off. My friend who is a groomer said I could use baby shampoo since it won't dry his skin, has anyone ever used this? I'm really at my wits end ad even considering letting him live with my in-laws because he's in so much misery. Side note- I do have an antibiotic from when he was bit from a tick and the vet said to use that when his skin breaks out. I have been using it and it clears up but then the fleas cause him to break ur again =/ please give me some advice, I dont know what else to do =/

I would definitely get him to the vet and ask for Revolution or Sentinel ASAP! I hate using medicinal treatments on Xavier, but just 1-2 fleas cause him some pretty terrible allergic reactions... He never had any trouble with fleas until we
moved. Our neighbors don't seem to take proper care of their dogs so we assume the fleas must migrate from their yard to ours. :-( Prior to moving, all we used was Minksheen shampoo. It has natural repellents, and is great for dogs with sensitive skin!

Excellent advice this is what i use and never have fleas...Revolution has been the best.

My wife's parents had a horrible flea infestation last year. They used comfortis, and it worked miracles! Within a few hours their dog was flea free.

I use comfortis and have never had a problem. If he has felas now it will kill them with in 2 hours and then kill any flea's that get on him. This is a pill you give once a month. If you give it make sure he has a full tummy, best goven with food.

It also sounds like he has a flea bite allergy and that is miserable.

It's not difficult getting the fleas off, but you need to treat the house inside and out so he isn't continually being bitten by them. Even with any of the chemicals put on or in him to combat fleas, they will still bite him. For in the house and the yard, use this: Food grade diatomaceous earth for flea and tick treatment.
And then to keep the fleas from even getting on your dog, use products the flea do not like the smell of, and you can mix up yourself. Since he's been bitten so many times already, be sure to take a stool sample to the Vet. now, and in two more weeks, then get a heart worm test.

I forgot to mention that when there is a flea problem like what your having at your parents, there will be zillions of mosquitoes and I'm sure he's being attacked by those as well. Poor baby.
