Henri is getting tagged Yesterday Henri went on a little adventure. Someone had left the gate open, so he and my parent's pug had gotten out. Luckily they were only out for a few minutes before we realized they were gone, so we ran out to the front yard and grabbed their little escapee butts. Its a good thing my parent's dog was with him otherwise he would have just taken off running, the pug sticks close to home and Henri sticks close to him. Henri has tried to run before when he was younger, he seems to think we are playing when I run after him to bring him back. I thought getting him neutered would fix that, but I'm not sure it did. So he is getting tags for his collar! But I am having a dilemma, at Petco the tags are $15-$20, which to me is a little expensive, but there is a machine at the entrance of walmart that sells and engraves tags for $5. So I'm not sure which one to go with, is $15 really worth it or should I just get the cheap one? Any other suggestions would help too :) Also, what info do you put on your dog's tags? |
Wow! I'm surprised to see that Petco charges that much. I always purchased them before and don't recall anything more than $5.00. I would use the Walmart machine. The tags are probably the same. |

I used the walmart machine. Right now, Chewie's tag just has his name and my cell phone number, although I will probably make a new one that has at least one other contact number on it, in case I don't answer my phone. |
Besides the tags for his collar, I would have him microchiped if you can too.. mine have this tags and they are all microchiped... one member here suggested the tags and I am glad I have them for my pack.. hugs, |
Thanks for the advice. Henri is microchiped, he was microchiped when he was neutered :) |

I will definitly think about it. |
All dogs should wear a tag and collar. I got mine online it's a red dingo tag and I love it. It has her name and my cell phone number and she also has her rabies tag on her collar and it has the vets number on it. eBay is a great place to look for tags for pretty cheap. |
20 is not a lot of money to find ur baby if lost. U would kickurself I'm sure if he went missinfmg...I use luckypet and he has a microchip I would die if I lost my Cedric |
I swear there was just a thread on here today called "dog tags". Just a few hours ago I got out a pink collar I'd never used before because Maggie has a harness. Someone suggested writing on it. I got my nice fresh Sharpie marker and put her name, our house # and street, and phone #. I didn't put "drive or street because it didn't fit, but figure she'd be found in our town so it should be good. I never liked the hanging tags, but apparently there are flat ones that slide onto the collar. For now Maggie will have her little pink collar w/ sharpie writing. Her hair covers it and you can barely notice it anyway. |
I ordered Optimus' tags from Etsy -- they have the CUTEST things on there! |

1 Attachment(s) We bought our Gypsy's tag at Petsmart, it cost 9.99. It has her name on the front and our contact info on the back |
We just bought Jack's at Petco yesterday and they were only $9.95 for the fanciest (it's in the shape of a dog bone with a picture of the Cleveland Browns dog on it and is done in the Browns' colors) and that was the most expensive one there. I can't believe they are charging so much where you live! |
