A little worried I got my Winnie (yorkie baby) when he is 8 weeks old and he weight 12oz. the following 3 weeks, he gained a lot of weight, almost 4oz per week and then the 4th week he's weight gain slow down a lot. fluctuate around 24.1oz to 24.4oz depend on weight before or after he eats. He is very healthy and eats all the time, is his growth rate normal? |
Well i don't know what normal is. All puppies grow at different rates but i do not think 4 oz a wk is too much. I think you should speak to your vet about it. Or your breeder would be able to give some advice as well.. |
If you have concerns, don't hesitate to contact your vet. Puppies growth rate will fluctuate, mainly I don't worry unless there is no growth or the puppy actually loses weight. Puppies go through little growth spurts just like human infants, so I'm leaning on the side that all is well, especially since there is no loss of appetite, and he's acting like his normal self. But again, let me stress, if you are truly concerned a call to your vet for an opinion wouldn't hurt! |
