Hello! I am in NH also....had a lone coyote watching Tyrone and I through the trees yesterday while I did yard work, before skulking away. Ty went beserk barking from his lead. No more naps outside in the sun now that the coyote knows he's here...I'm sure he'll be back...I hear packs howling out there at night frequently. Very scared. Have worried about the hawks that hunt the fields across from my house so I have a pen with a roof for him, but it wouldn't stop a coyote. Thought of calling Fish & Game...wish there was a solution....Tyrone loves the outdoors, rain, snow, or snnshine (at last.....). |
They have a special type of thing that goes along on top of the fence...it is a roller type of thing, and the coyotes cant get over the fence because it rolls when they grab onto it....some people on here already have that thing...cant remember what it is called, but I bet you could google coyote proof fence and it would come up. I would light up the back yard like an amusement park...there is NO way I would have pitch black areas in my back yard with predators from the woods hanging out, lurking after my babies. Second, that would be the end of after dark pottie breaks out into the yard....you can go potty up close to the back door, but no more running out into the dark yard! This is heartbreak waiting to happen! |
The coyotes are getting brave and coming close to homes because of the lack of food in their habitat. It has been so dry for the last 2 years in our area, that the pheasant, rabbit, bird population is really down. We are having problems with them, too! 2 nights ago, our outside dogs were having a fit around 3:00 in the morning....you guessed it.....coyote! My son went out and tried to find it but it was already gone! |
So glad your babies were okay. I would have had a heartattack right there. Glad you are getting a fence. I would buy the tallest they make. Keep those babies safe and be safe yourselves. Its kinda sad that so many of the wild life have no place to go. Its just bad all the way around. BYW your babies are cuties. |
Thanks! This thread was last year! Lol. We did install a 6ft fence and spotlight though! So the yard is lit up like Fenway park now! Lol. Haven't seen or even heard a coyote actually since last spring! But there are more turkeys than ever here. That's not good. |
