Update On Tia Rose She had some more diarrhea through the night but I stayed up with her ALLLLL night long and kept her hydrated with nutrical and pedialyte w/ sugar in it fed through a syringe. I'm happy to say that she has had no diarrhea so far this morning and she's VERY playful, unlike last night when she was so sleepy and lethargic. Also, she did one SOLID tiny little adorable poop!! I'm so happy!! I hope this means that she's on the road to recovery but I'm not going to jump the gun. I'm still taking her to her scheduled vet appointment today. I want a stool sample test done and maybe even a blood test. I'm going to see what the vet says about a blood test first because it may be too stressful for her right now. I don't want to stress her out right now but I want to make sure I do whatever is in my power to help her. Money isn't an issue -- not that I am rich -- but I'd sell my car and all my jewelry in a heartbeat to pay for medical expenses if that were necessary. I already told the vet to do WHATEVER he must to save her -- no expenses spared -- I REFUSE to lose another baby. When I bring her in today, I'm going to stress that point again. So she seems to be doing better. She's so playful and she's even barking at Codie to get his attention! She's chasing him all over the living room with a stuff pink poodle toy in her mouth! LOL! :p I also hand fed her some white rice and some broiled chicken this morning -- yes, it is only 7:50 a.m. so that means I was awake at 5:50 a.m. to start cooking the chicken - LOL. :D Please continue to pray for my baby because we're not out of the woods yet. I'll keep the updates coming and hopefully if it's nothing too serious, I'll make time to post pictures tonight. Sorry I haven't posted them sooner but I've been a nervous wreck and up all night long for the past 2 nights! PS - I gave her 1 cc via a syringe of Albon last night. I'm going to find out from the vet how much and how often to continue giving it to her. |
Thats good news to hear! I will keep you in my thoughts and will be checking back on this thread for your future updates...Good luck, you have been thru so much already. |
That's great !! I hate hearing about your sick baby so this is good news - just a word of caution - When Chanel had it - she would seem better also - We watched her closely after first seeing the diarrhea...and her breeder kept telling us it was stress - Well - it wasn't - From Friday till Sunday she went up and down and by Sunday we were in the Emergency room - Remember - our breeder was telling us she was FINE - so I highly advise you to have her checked by her vet. Here is more info - and IF she has it ...yes it did come home with her - you've only had her a few days. A puppy is not born with the coccidia organisms in his intestine. However, once born, the puppy is frequently exposed to his mother's feces, and if the mother is shedding the infective cysts in her feces, then the young animals will likely ingest them and coccidia will develop within their intestines. Since young puppies, usually those less than six months of age, have no immunity to coccidia, the organisms reproduce in great numbers and parasitize the young animal's intestines. Oftentimes, this has severe effects. Stress plays a role in the development of coccidiosis. It is not uncommon for a seemingly healthy puppy to arrive at his new home and develop diarrhea several days later leading to a diagnosis of coccidia. If the puppy has been at the new home for less than thirteen days, then he had coccidia before he arrived. |
heheh - sorry !! I reread your post again and you DO have an appointment already with your vet ....so ...ignore my ranting !! lol - GOOD LUCK and let us know how she is asap ? and PICTURES when you can - I can't wait to meet our new baby ! |

Jenn must be one tired mommie this morning. I'll bet it was cute watching her carry her toy around! Hope she gets well soon. |
Jen~ Try to take a fresh stool sample with you to the vet so they don't have to do the invasive retrieval in the office. Just put it in a baggy and refrigerate it until you go. |
Oh, Jen, I hope Tia is all better! Please keep us updated, and we're anxiously awaiting photos of your baby! |
