Bald Spot? Hey guys! Question for you... I was grooming Katie Scarlett before bedtime a few minutes ago and I noticed she has a bald spot about the size of a dime on the very top of her head? It's right above where her top knot goes. I put her hair in a top knot almost every day. I use those no pull bands and am always careful to try and not pull her hair. I cut them out at the end of the day. Why did this bald spot suddenly appear? I hope she is ok We have a vet appointment Thursday for her to get her health certificate before our flight on Sunday. I am going to address it at the vets office. Could it just be hair loss from top knots or something serious? It is not red or anything. She doesn't scratch at it either. I'm confused! |
I have had that problem with Libby. When I first saw it, I felt so bad and thought I'd had her top knot too tight. Then, a while later, it got bigger and I took her to the vet. They checked for different things, but never did figure out what it was, and she ended up with several bald spots on her head that eventually filled in with hair again. |
Oh, I had never heard of this and now I will keep a lookout for Prissy's, it's good to hear that it grew back in...it seems there is always something to stress about with these babies. Miss Priss has stolen our hearts and I check her out daily...my DH says I am obsessed but I'm not really, I do it with Yoshi too. |
My Bella had the same thing. I cut her hair into the visor cut and no more baldspots so I think it must have something to do with the topknot/ band. |
Ziva was the same, the hair on the top of her head was so fine it was wearing out- I stopped trying to topknot her hair and it came in nicely. Now at 3 years she has enough hair to gather but I think it would wear out quickly. Short cuts for us! |
One of my girls had a bald spot under her top know when I first brought her home... that was part of the reason I started using the tiny claw clips. Her hair has grown back in and she hasn't had any more bald spots :) |
Ouch! Poor KS! That is one of the reasons I feared trying a topknot was I could hurt Tibbe by getting it too tight and not knowing it while he had to deal with the discomfort. Plus, he vehemently disliked the thing sticking up there and bugging him and I didn't want to do that. It looks cute but I just couldn't do it to Tibbe. I'm glad you saw that! Miss Katie Scarlett is so cute. |
The little terry cloth covered scrunchies for babies work great and dont seem to pull the hair out or damage it. You may have to put it back in a few times a day but they don't cause the little ones discomfort. |
Are you putting them in loose? Also, she could have an allergy to the bands. |
