Thank you so much everyone! I loved reading all of your experiences. I am still torn on whether or not to get both! I am hoping to go see them one last time at the end of this week to make my decision. I'm sure I will post about it afterwards! Thanks again for all the replies! |
Just to add confusion to the mix, Joey's breeder said she thought if you get two at once, they will bond more with each other instead of you, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if you work. She believed getting a second Yorkie when the first was around 7 was a good idea; a new puppy brings back the playfulness in an older dog. Personally, I wouldn't do it unless there was some extenuating circumstances, like my2boyz described. By the way, nearly everyone said housebreaking is much harder with two pups. |
Alexis and Zoey are sisters from the same litter. They were very easy to care for. They do everything together. Alexis is in charge and has been since I brought them home. Zoey will follow her anywhere, and always waits to eat after Alexis. This is weird only because Alexis only weighs 1lb 12oz and Zoey is 5lbs. I found it comforting to know they had each other whenever I left the house. When I got them we had to get them both because, Zoey would not stop crying when we separated them, even though there were 2 more pups there. Just remember there is twice the mess, but there is twice the joy. I have a blast just watching mine play. Good luck. |
I've heard that breeders do not recommend it for various reasons. However, I have 2 sisters that have been pure joy to raise, and I am sooooo glad I've had them together. They have never been apart since birth, and are almost 3 now. They are much more loving with each other than my other 2, have distinctly different personalities, and are very sweet and tender with everybody. I must have lucked out, but I'm so happy to have these sweeties. Having multiples, regardless of from same litter is a little challenging in training, and working around jealousy issues, and of course is more costly (especially in vet care). It can also be a lot of fun, and I like the peace of mind knowing that they have company when I'm not around. |
I have two females from the same litter and they are great together. They are 6 months old. My biggest issue is the potty training. I just purchased the How to Train in 7 Days book and I am having a hard time taking them both out on a leash by myself... |
Have NOT read the other post... I think having 2 woule be AWESOME!! not only are they siblings, and already know each other, but they already love each other!!! Yes, TWICE the potty trainingTWICE the vet bills, etc..but if your ur for it..GO FOR IT!! Just make sure you have the funds, patience andlove for 2!!! |

When Noah was sick, we got special permission from the vet to bring Allie to the hospital and let them see and smell each other. I really think it helped him turn a corner and it definitely helped her with her anxiety since he had been gone. He was at the vet for 11 days with parvo and we honestly almost lost him. She was soo happy the day he came home. |
I would never. I see many saying no issues and they traines together symiltaniously but the double trouble thought and knowing my luck, limits, and effort ability noooo way. |
I have two basset hounds from the same litter, rhe reason being they were a little older and they were so bonded that I didn't have the heart to seperate them. I have had very few problems with them, except for minor jealousy issues. I never regretted it. |
