No More Eye Stains! Yay Gerber Water! I read an old thread about using Gerber water to reduce eye gunk and tear staining. I was skeptical, but thought "hey, why not give it a try?". I also switched to a stainless steel water bowl. Well, we started Gerber water a couple weeks ago, and the change has been nothing short of remarkable. I am so surprised, and so pleased with how nice and clean the girl's eyes are. Even hubby noticed! I don't understand why it works. I just know that it does. Just thought I'd pass this on. Lovin' the Gerber water! :clapsmile |
What is Gerber water? Is this the only kind that will work, my puppy niece has this problem. Thanks and glad its working for you. |

Question , does it stop the eye watering as well or just the staining? Thx |
Gerber (yes, the baby food company) water is a distilled water, sold for $1. per gallon at Walmart. It's in the water isle, not the baby food isle. I'm not sure if it cuts down on eye watering, or if any other brand would work. Does anyone else know? I have a white Shih Tzu-Maltese, and her under eye fur looks snowy white! I've also noticed that Lucy doesn't have any eye goobers. I'm so happy. |
I just started using it because I have a cat that has watery eyes. So far so good |

c I have been using regular distilled water for quite some time both for my drinking water and for Gracie. She has great clear eyes and now I find the cats drinking out of her bowl instead of their own. I think animals are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. I started using it because we have hard water that would leave mineral marks in the dish that I would have to dissolve with vinegar. That can't be good for anyone's body to have to filter and I didn't want Gracie's kidney's to have to deal with it. I use a glass dish for the water and I wash it at least twice a day. |
I started using it a few weeks back and I think I notice a difference. At the same time I took him to the groomers and had his eye area cut very short too and I wipe it down 1-2 times a day with a cotton pad soaked in warm water. |

is it the right one? it does seem to be helping... Walmart.com: Gerber Water: Purified Infant Water, 1 Gal: Beverages |
That is the one I buy, and there are two varieties, one with added fluoride and one without. Just make sure you get the one without. |

The links works for me. I haven't found it by the gallon at the wal-mart close by. Maybe I'll check at a different one. |
Bought my first gallon today and hope to see results soon.:) |

I love Gerber Water. I have been using it since July with wonderful results. Recently, I ran out of it and I hadn't gone to the store, So I was using my bottled water I drink out of the fridge for the next day until I was able to make it to the store. I noticed her eyes start running almost instantly. It was later the next night before I finally was able to get some but she was way more goopy by the end of the next day! It happened so fast... So, Gerber it is for us!!!!!!!!! |
