Shaking Does your yorkie shake? Bentley seems to shake all the time. I tried clothes thinking he was cold but that's not it. Is he afraid of something or do they just do that? He doesn't do it while napping or anything. I just was curious if maybe its a yorkie thing. Thanks :) |
Brandi shakes from time to time.....usually because she's cold or because she doesn't want to do something like take a bath. To me it's just her being a drama queen. |
Georgie shakes too. I think he plays mind games with me LOL. He tends to do it when he thinks we are leaving. I think he is fine just seems to be something some Yorkies do. My nieces Yorkie does it as well. I have learned as long as Georgie has a full belly and it's not cold inside if he shakes he's fine. |

Yup that's how I look at it too. To me I think its a way of getting our sympathies. Whenever I take Brandi to the groomers she shakes so much like there is something seriously wrong, then my groomer told me as soon as I leave she stops shaking. So that told me right there she's only doing it hoping I will feel sorry for her so that I don't leave her there by herself.:p |
My Jewels shakes when she hears a loud noise like thunderstorms and fireworks. We dont make a big deal out of it though I will give her a little attention if she seems really stressed. Anyway she has gotten better in time and fewer things make her that nervous but the fireworks every year does it for her |

Sometimes Roxy shakes like she's freezing when we are in the car. She was too happy to be frightened, too warm to be cold. She was just so excited to be going for a ride that she was shivering. She settled down & stopped the shaking after a bit. Ya have to kinda put the pieces together by watching other behavior that goes along with the shaking to figure it out. Sometimes can be a mystery for awhile. Storms make her angry more than afraid. lol! She will go tearing outside and bark her head off like she's really giving it he$$. One time the thunder stopped as soon as she did that. Talk about getting a powerful attitude after that. LOL!!! She really thought she was something else. ;-) |
3 do not...1 does ALL THE TIME!! Of course she weighs 2 pounds and gets chilled so very easily even though she wears clothes 24 hours a day!! Maybe he just is a nervous little guy!! |
Not to scare anybody, but shaking can also be a sign of pain &/or low blood sugar. |
Ruby shakes when she knows she's going out with me. At first it made me nervous, but I think it's kind of like anxious energy or something. Because she shakes until she's strapped into her carseat, then relaxes once we get moving and she's looking out the window. I agree with Roxyluv, where you have to look at the "big picture." take all their other behaviors into consideration. |

Shaking can represent emotions of some kind or pain/illness. Be sure to get her vet checked and if nothing is wrong, journal her shaking episodes with what is going on with her and in the home at the time and see what kind of pattern develops. Tibbe shook when he was coming down with pneumonia during his recent illness(one of the ways I knew something was wrong) and he shakes when I am getting ready to leave the house, get him a bite of pizza crust, when he sees a cat, dog, squirrel, bird out of the window or tell him that company is coming. He shakes still occasionally when he hears the certain kind of sound the curtain rod makes when I open the den curtains. He used to bolt the room when that happened but after much time working with his fears of this sound, now he stays and sometimes shakes. So shaking in dogs can represent many things and you have to know your dog and put the shaking in context to try to discern its true meaning. |

It can be but that's why you have to pay attention to the behavior. I know what triggers the shakes in Brandi, any unfamiliar environments or anything she doesn't want to do like go outside in the rain to potty or bath time or the vet's office or the groomers. If she shakes for any other reason, then yes I would be worried. |

Joel shook when I first got him, but it was either if I left him alone or he was scared of something. Now he only shakes when he's cold or realy scared. |
