Taking baby to the beach? Hey everyone, I was curious...for those of you who have taken your little one to the beach, how do you keep them cool? Clearly, I'll bring a cooler with lots and lots of ice and cold, cold water and dishes for her to drink out of. Just curious how you keep them protected from the sun and such? Thanks, Shannon:animal-pa |
i havent brought mine to the beach but i always have an unbrella outside with their blanket under it for them to lay in the shade. |
Same here we always have umbrellas. My brother in law buys the big patio furniture umbrellas. Make sure you have a lttle shovel so you can dig a hole for the umbrella pole. Having ice cold water is good too |
Yes an umbrella is a great idea. A little kiddie pool or bin of water to drink and frolick in is good too. Beware of sand in the face though. Lol ahi seems to dive face first in the sand and sneezes for the next 5 minutes. :D. Enjoy the beach! |
My two love the beach! Make sure to bring an umbrella, fresh water and towels to dry off (mine love to get wet). We are going to the Oregon Coast in April and are going to have to worry about keeping them warm. I'll trade ya?! :p |
Good luck at the beach! It should be fun, the water, the umbrella, even the hole in the sand are really good points and one that you might also think of, do you have a VERY light weight T shirt? As in sun burn, ya I know, also hot but might work. For us, no beach, Sprocket loves the water BUT OMG sand in the hair , sand just can't be dealt with, LOL. It means for us ALOT of washing afterwards, and a little wet rat :D, cute but still. Have fun. Surfs up, sands warm, even if the water isn't. AND the tourists havent arrived YET. :D |
Yup umbrella and lots of ice water. I usually keep a bottle of water filled that I pour on Brandi. I also will take her down to the waterline to let her cool off. She hates the water but doesn't mind being on the beach. |
When we go to the beach, we just walk our dogs in the morning and late evening. We have never spent the day at the beach with them. |
My first thought was to take some eye wash just in case sand gets in the eyes. I hope you have lots of fun! |
We make sure we have shade. And we take a square clothes basket and about a dozen frozen bottles of water. I put a thick towel on top the frozen bottles. Rubin will lay next to the basket. Gracie will hop in and lay on the towel for a few min.s to cool down she will also 'dig' out a frozen bottle and play with it. (I also use frozen 2 litter bottles of water to keep the grandkids cool.) |
What about sand fleas, and matting hair from it getting wet? I love the idea of taking Allie but those 2 things have prevented me. How do u guys handle it? |
We went to the outer banks last summer. Snoopy is black and tan, so his back can really get hot. I put water in my hand and run it over his back. His skin doesn't get wet, but the top layer of fur cools off. We had an umbrella, too. And you really have to be careful of their little feet on hot sand or pavement. |
