New Kid on the Block :aimeeyork Hello everyone.I'm new to this forum and have read some great things. My baby Gunner is 9 weeks old,I'm not used to house breaking a puppy but were doing good I reward him with treats when he does good.(is that good to do?)Any house training advice would be very appreciative.I also wanted to know about their ears.my breeder whom I got him from said to tape them my vet told me they would stand up on there own so, now I don't know what to do. |
Welcome to YT and congrats in your furbaby. |
Welcome to YT!! I am not sure on the ears...my two are rehomes and were older when we adopted them..... PS I am grew up in Sevierville and still have family there...live in Newport now:) Howdy neighbor!!! |
Welcome to the YT forums! You can choose to either tape them or see and wait. If you want them to stand I think taping them sooner would be better. It doesn't hurt them. But I love ears that flop. My Ahis ears stood when I got her but if they didn't I don't think I would have done anything to them. :) |
Welcome to YorkieTalk!! I would suggest trimming the hair on Gunner's ears and then if they don't start to stand, you can tape them. As for house training, consistency is key! He will need to go outside often and praise him when he potties where you want (whether it's outside or on a potty pad). Remember, he's a baby and will take a while to understand where you want him to potty... Be patient! |
Great name! Yeah I would wait a bit and the ears should stand on their own. Training = patience. Routines work the best, so patience and routines will help get the job done. |
Hi there and welcome to YT... |
Welcome to YT! Congrats on your pup! I don't have any advice on the ears, My Bentley is 15 weeks old today and his ears started standing up last week on their own :) |

:welcome4: Feeding on a schedule helps potty training too ;) |
Welcome! I'm new to this forum too and I already love it. Giving him treats is a very good idea, I use that for my yorkie who is almost 10 months and he hasn't gone on the floor for a while now. To get my little Henri's ears to stand up I just kept trimming them, works pretty well, although they will flop every now and then when the hair gets long. Just make sure to start trimming right away. I hope this helps! Again, welcome and please post pictures of little Gunner! |
welcome to yorkie talk. when your puppy is doing good on potty training or any training its good to reward them and lots and lots of patience. |
My vet told me to gently massage the ears when I held her and give a little cottage cheese(calcium) I did to Violet and Hardy and both of their ears stand up now! |
