Will his hair grow back properly? I made a boo-boo... My dad passed away in October, and through the grieving process, my fiancé was the main babysitter for my two yorkies... and that ended with an enormous amount of matts in Shifu's hair, and they were skin tight. So I went scissor crazy... he basically got a buzz cut. His hair has since grown out about 2 inches, but it's very puffy and wavy. Before the haircut, he had long silky straight hair, perfect. Is this just the process of growing out? When it gets longer will it become silky straight again? It won't let me post a picture of the before.. But I'll try to post it again later. |
Very good question, unfortunately, I don't have the answer. I've never cut Jazzies hair so I don't have a clue. Hopefully someone else will come along and answer this for you, I'd like to know this as well. |
Thank you, I really hope it will grow back normally, because this "puffy" stage doesn't look too amazing lol. He had such beautiful hair.. Photo with long hair. |
Not sure but all I want to say is SQUEEEE...he's so cute! lol :D |

maybe its just because it is shorter, sometimes the weight of longer hair weighs it down more and makes it straighter..it will prob be long and straight when it grows out like before, don't see his hair changing texture just because of a cut..but not too sure..i used redken blonde glam condition on meesha last night and it made some of her fuzzyer wavy looking puppy fur look shiny silkyer and straighter!her tan fur looks so much more vibrant .. i bought it to use for myself but works for her too hehe maybe that might help? |
Just bumping this back up, I'd really love to know what others have to say about this. |
I'm eager to hear others experience too. Bad Leroy Brown had never been cut when I got him at 6 months. His hair was really long and matted so easily. I kept it long for about 4 years and it was torture to groom after a romp in the yard. So, a couple years ago I had him trimmed back into a sort of puppy cut. This winter, I've let him grow out a bit and now his hair is about 3 or 4 inches long on his back (shorter on his tummy). . . and it's soooooo different. No tangles (yet). Now he loves being combed. Also, when he was younger, the hair on his back and head was black.... now it's growing out silver. Wondering if that's due to his 'maturing' ? ? ? ? |
I think coat type is more about genetics. It should not change just because of a hair cut. Is your little guy full grown? Coats can change some what when they are puppies but if he is an adult it should grow back the same. |
New Look! Max just got his first cut and I cried when I first saw him! LOL! He is still adorable but he looks so different! He is 4 months and going gray! |
I think it will grow back the same. Lexi's would get wavy at a certain length but as it got longer it would straiten out |
Thanks everyone. Yesterday after his bath, I put on some Chi heat protectant and I blow-dried him. His hair straightened out perfectly, it's just a bit thicker, but like horsnaround said, as it gets longer it will weigh the hair down some. His face is still long and silky, but his body is short and thick. He's very interesting looking right now, but still an adorable teddy! :D:p |
