Has anyone used Rescue Remedy or Alprazolam for Nervousness? My baby is almost 6 months old and he gets nervous very easily. He shakes terribly when going in the car (and even as I take him towards the garage). I need to work on this with him, but still need to take him to puppy class each week. I purchase Rescue Remedy for Pets and also picked up a Rx for Alprazolam tablets from my vet. Has anyone tried either of these remedies? I'd really like to be able to take him in the car with him getting so upset and throwing up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Sandy |
I tried it once for the 4th of the July- I didn't really see a difference. Peanut use to be a nervous Nelly in the car as well, until I bought him a car seat. Now he loves car rides!! |

I would definitely suggest getting him a carseat. It helps them see out the window and have a comfortable place to sit, but keeps them safe. Khloe used to get shaky in the car, but she eventually got over it and loves car rides now. |
I have used Resue Remedy with birds with good success. I have also used it myself and it worked pretty well! I've never used it on any of my dogs, though. |

I love this booster, and Pnut does too- He looks really comfy in it and he loves it- I feel he is very safe in there. I put a throw blanket on top so he is nice and snug. Let me know if you have any questions!! Oh it also has a lead on it- it is made in the booster. You clip the lead to a harness! |
I've heard that car seats can work. My vet mentioned Rescue Remedy for my boy, but after him going totally crazy in the car and Benadryl making it worse, I just went with the Ace. |
I agree with the car seat recommendation first. I haven't used Rescue Remedy on my dogs, but have used it myself and it does have a nice calming/relaxing effect on me. |
The reason car seats work is that they allow the dog to see outside, this keeps them from getting getting motion sickness. Quote:

Rescue Remedy did not work for Ian. I bought him a Thunder Shirt for his car rides, and so far, no more vomiting. (He would vomit in his car seat.) |
