Seizures!!! First time on YT!! My Sophie is 10 and I have been flying with her for years. This last trip she had seizures in flight. Called the ER Vet from the airport and had to leave her all day on IV fluids. She was given Valium for a couple of days, we had an uneventful visit. When we got to the airport to go home she started having another one so I gave her the valium, she had 5 seizures in flight. I was in a tizzy to say the least. Has anyone had an experience like this? We have been home 5 weeks now and she has had partial seizures lasting 3-4 sec. We bought Sophie for our poodle when the kids moved out. Now I am sad to say our poodle died last week(another tragic story). I'm afraid to fly now because Sophie has seizures and now her owner (the poodle) is gone. I don't have a clue how to figure out if the seizures are stress related or is it her! Thanks a ton for listening. |
Hi, and welcome. I am so sorry you have lost your poodle baby and are having this trouble with your Yorkie baby. I hope everything turns out okay. {hugs} |
hello and welcome, greetings from another Oakland County Yorkie talker. I wish you were here under different circumstances. I don't have advice other than try to see a specialist. I can imagine how worried you must be, there are lots of dog owners here with tons of different experiences hopefully some of them can give you good suggestions. |
Hi there and welcome..I'm sorry for your loss and now this with your Sophie having seizures, I hope you can find out what is causing them... |
I'm sorry. :( That it is odd that it started midflight. Really the best option is to go to a neurologist for evaluation. There are so many things that can cause seizures. We don't have many board certified neurologists in Michigan. You do have a couple choices if you decide to go to one though. I'll PM you the name of the one that conferred on my dog's case. They are very nice and very good there. |
