Odd eating habit all of a sudden Roxie has never had an issue with eating her food. We usually put the bowl down, she scarfs up her meal in two minutes, and she's done and gone. The past few days she has been weird with the food. We put the food down and she doesn't run right over to it like she usually does. Then, once she does start eating, she picks up the food a few pieces at a time and carries them over to the carpet to eat them. Why would she be doing this? Could it be a dental issue? We're concerned. |
Paris used to do this too. He would come all the way from the kitchen to the living room with a mouth full of food, spit it out and eat it, go back and get some more. I always thought he just wanted to eat by us. I don't think it's anything to worry about. |
My girl does the same thing! She is 8, has been doing it since the beginning pretty much. She will take about 5 kibbles in her mouth, and sprint away, drop them, and eat them. Lather, rinse, repeat. She is healthy and I don't know why she does it but as long as she eats, I don't mind. She seems to enjoy it. :) |
Prissy and Yoshi both do this... |
How old is Roxie? ZoE just turned one in December. Ever since I've had her she has inhaled her food. Whatever I put down she eats and eats quickly until the bowl is empty! She didn't even chomp, just swollowed. Then last month, I put the food in her bowl and I heard her crunch! I was shocked. Then she did it again. Now she chomps and crunches her kibble all the time and sometimes even leaves kibble sitting in her bowl and goes back & to eat it later. Such a drastic change in her eating behaviour compared to a few months ago. |
She's never done this consistently before...maybe once in a blue moon, and never for the entire meal. I worry because we've been through so much with food sensitivities and digestive reactions and everything...we were just so happy she was eating normally for a while. BTW - she's 5 years old. |
I'm reading a book right now called "the holistic way", it's written by a vet. He talks about stresses on a dogs overall system and how it's harder for the system to process the kibble over a raw or meat diet because of the dogs make up. if you are worried try a little cooked meat and see how she does, her wee system may just be stressed a little. Have you changed anything in her environment or daily routine? |
