I agree, your comments are more than welcome. I called and I just asked outright if she has done anything more to find the owner. She says they haven't posted on CL but have called a radio station and had it broadcast. She's called vets and shelters. And put up flyers. They are thinking it was someone passing through. I called my mom to verify this so I know it was actually done and she said the same thing. I told her it was really bothering me and that if she's really trying then I have no problem but that if she was just half trying bc she wants to keep her that it's wrong. She has another yorkie and I said, "how would u feel if Tobi got out and someone just took him?" I'm so so happy it was really that easy and that she is trying. Im glad that I didn't have to be rude in any way and that I didn't have to lose a friend. Although I do not agree with her breeding her. I told her that and asked if she was going to spay her. She said she thinks so. I will keep pushing it. It's not easy for me to call someone and tell them that something they have done has upset me. Thanks to you guys I was able to. I didn't want to wait either. Just wanted to go ahead and get it done so I called. Otherwise I may have takes myself out of it. I feel like all of u helped me find my voice. I'm surprised she has done so much. Happily surprised of course. It's a big relief for me. I dot have to continue thinking she's a terrible person. And I feel a little bad for thinking that anyways. I haven't called her in two weeks or so bc I just didn't want to hear about it and I felt like she was getting mad that I had been bugging her about it for a while. Hopefully some of my initial "bugging" helped to get her to try harder. Proud of her and very proud of the radio broadcast. Still, she should ost on CL. Which I told her. I feel like a million pounds hasten lifted off my shoulders. Thanks again guys. Guess I'll just go ahead and keep going on and on and on about spaying her. And if it irritates her, oh well. I feel good knowing that I wouldn't have just sat back and had fully intended to take it into my own hands. Glad that all out confrontation wasn't necessary. |
Sorry, but I could never consider someone like this a friend. There are so many things running through my head right now.......... Did you know there are state specific pages on Facebook for lost dogs? I would look there as well. Just look Lost Dog and then the state she is in to find the page. |
Maybe you could offer to put the found ad on Craigslist for her. I would just die if someone like that got a hold of one of my babies. I hope she realizes now how important it is she try harder to find a possible owner. |
for peace of mind and to make sure she really called if I was you I would call myself. It's pretty easy now with goggle. Just look for animal shelters within about a 50 mile radius of where they live and phone them. Then put a posting on Craigs list with just an email as a contact. you don't have to use your own email just get a new one for this from some place like yahoo that is free. I would not bother calling the vets, because to me if I lost a dog the first places I would contact would be the shelters, and I guess look on Craig's list or any other free posting web site for that area. If someone was to contact you just send them to her address, they can say they found her info from one of the flyers she claimed to have put up. And the comment she made about someone passing through does not make sense, even if I "were just passing through" I would not continue on without trying to first find my pet and then when I eventually had to leave I would leave a lot of contact info. Also if she is truly trying to find the owner did she go to a location that has a scanner to check to see if the dog was chipped? if not than I don't believe they are really trying. Calling a radio station IMO is a waste of time, at best they probably make the announcement once or twice and there are a lot of radio station choices. |
knowing how much we all love our dogs I would hope that if the same situation happened if Teegy was lost and found by that person, you would let the police, shelters and rescues know and I would find out which vet she goes to and advise them that the dog should be scanned and that it's not her dog. I can't believe the vet didn't question it. |
you should tell us where she found her and the colours etc and people on YT in the area could post on their FB twitter or my space pages in case they coincidentally know the person |
I say you should try to find the owner yourself. Since pets are property anyone who finds one has a legal responsibility to try to locate the rightful owner & all newspapers that I am aware of run free found adds for this reason, as if you find something & want to find the owner of it then you as the finder should not have to pay to find the owner. If you can remember the approx date the pup was found you can call your local newspaper & ask them to look back to the dates before & after the time frame this pup was found & I would also call any throw away papers as well like the moneysaver, pennysaver, etc....that cover the area the pup was found. Craigslist if fine too but remember that not everyone has access to a computer & anyone can get a newspaper which is why Legal & Public Notices are posted in the newspaper . Please try to find her owner. |

Umm...what it sound like to me is "CRIMINAL", as in stealing is wrong. If you are feeling odd about tattling on friend, message me. I will have no problem tattling on your friend and you can remain anonymous. Please send me all the information you have and I will contact local vets, shelters, newspapers and I am sure others on here would help me. |
Being that this is taking place in another state your choices are limited. You probably don't know the vet she took the little one to and you can't call all the vets in her area. How about the local animal control? Also, you might get in touch with the local tv station. I feel very sorry for the poor little thing. Kibble and Bits and having babies! Not a good story. |
I'm not exactly sure where she found her. I only kno of the broad area. Like I said, from my understanding, they have been actively trying to find her owner. Of course, with me being many states away, I have no way of knowing for sure. I'm doing what I can from a distance. I have really good understanding friends looking into the matter that I trust completely. I asked them to go to all the shelters (there's maybe 2) and ask and also to the vet I know in that area and to be keeping an eye out for any flyers up for a lost dog. And I asked if she would go check to see if flyers had been put up for a found dog. She was checked for a microchip as far as I know. My main concern was that I thought she wasn't trying at all and just took her as her own. I now do feel she is trying and making an effort but just to be certain I do have close animal loving friends helping me to do all we can as well. I feel very confident now that if the owner is looking we will find them. Even if my friend is only partly helping. I really feel like the best way to deal with uneducated people is to educate them, not to attack them or threaten to no longer be their friends. I have learned that not everyone(although I wish they did)treats their pets like I do and not everyone handles things related to animals the same way I would. I'm happy to have everyone's support and thank you again for giving me the confidence to step up and help how I can. |

I understand not wanting to confront this person, this is a delicate subject on this forum, and simply venting here will not get that little girl home to her parents. People here are rightfully concerned, it could have been any one of our babies:mad::mad: Make some calls, post on Craigslist, and every single time that friend calls you, the first thing you should say is, "Did you find that yorkie's rightful owner yet?" Hope you can make a difference, for the little girl that is, your friend sounds like a lost cause. |
It's funny that this was posted because I was just about to post myself . Last night while my friend and I were sitting on our steps smoking a cigarette, a little brown and tan dog ran up to uis or should I say hobbled over to us. She had her paw raiised and it look like she was injured. It was late so none of the vets were opened so we took the dog to the emergency vet. It turns out that her leg was broken and $900 later we took her home. We were going to phone shelters and put notices up the next day. Well the next day we saw a car kind of cruiising around our block and we thought they were lost. The man yelled out and asked if we had seen a small black and ten dog around . He discribed her to a tee. We told him that we have a dog that was by our home and we had taken her to an emergency vet because she was injured. I brought the dog out to him and he gave us a check for the vet bill and a $200 reward We didn't want the reward but we accepted the money for the vet bill. It felt so good to be able to help the dog and the owners. We never did find our what kind of a dog she was but who cares. She was a furbaby in trouble. |
