Meesha sleeps in my bed, on the pillow next to mine, she has a ramp to get to it, every night, before she settles down for bed, she licks my pillow i sleep on for a good 5 mins or more! lol, it is drentched in the spot she licks!! i usually flip the pillow over when i go to sleep and wash it the next day:rolleyes:. It is a pain having to wash my pillowcase everyday lol. Quirky Yorkie? Don't you mean 'misunderstanding' Yorkie parents? :p Mine have to play in bed a bit before cuddling up to sleep and they only calm down to sleep if the light is turned off. :D |
Mine play for a bit too, usually while I'm setting out wee-wee pads. I always have my hair up in a scrunchie so when I get into bed we play a little tug of war with my scrunchie Then dad turns out the lights and we all have to settle down. |
Sophia lays by my feet and watches tv for about 10 minutes. Then she comes up and gives mom and dad good night kisses! Then she walks down by my feet and plops! |

You might try telling her no and redirecting her attention to something else. It might take a bit of this before she stops but compulsive licking can be stopped. |

Shelby, Seymour and Seeger walk single file down the hallway to the bedroom and wait by the side of the bed to be picked up. Sometimes Seeger will turn around and run back to get a toy, if he forgot to bring one. Shelby has to look for "monsters" (she looks over the side of the bed when we ask her to look for monsters). Seymour lays down immediately and rolls over on his back for a belly rub. Seeger curls in a little ball and within SECONDS his eyes are shut and he's asleep. |
I have ocd so I do the same thing every night to get ready for bed and Callie now has to do the routine the same every night or she will not go to bed. I take advair and on the third rinse of my mouth with water she runs out the doggy door and does her last potty break and comes in, I shut the doggy door and pick up any of her toys that are out while she says good night to my grandma, then I tell her lets go to bed and she goes to my bedroom door and waits for me to get there, then she goes up the stairs and sits on the end of my bed, I play with her for a few minutes, then check her back (allergy rash) her ears mouth and then clean any eye bogies, then I ask her to wipe her nose on the tissue (this started when she had runny nose because of allergies), then I hold her gown out and she slips her head in then her right leg and then left, after that she gets a little yogurt treat then gives me a high five for another yogurt treat, then I tell her to to get in bed and she goes down the doggy stairs to her soft sided dog house, I tuck her in then run to the potty for my last potty break and then give her another little treat and then sleep lol |
One of my Yorkies is a semi-obsessive licker. The first one I had, Mr Pippin was even worse. Mine have never liked to lick fabric, but like to like any exposed skin, and before bed time is THE time to get some licks in. We do let Ms Daisy lick our arms for a minute before we tell her to "go to sleep." She actually is pretty good at obeying this command, and she will stop the licking. Sometimes she will get in a licking contest, kissing her "brother", but he will only put up with so much of that before he stops that game.:D I think the spazzier of more "high strung" your Yorkie (any dog really), the more they are prone to this obsessive licking behavior. |
Teegy has stairs up to the bed, there isn't really a routine because sometimes he just goes to bed himself. He sleeps on the pillow beside me and lies with his head beside mine, but doesn't always stay there. And when the alarm goes off in the morning he's down those stairs and I say no we have a snooze, back to bed so he comes up and waits for the next alarm. On the weekends when the alarm is off, he wakes up, walks to the end of the bed and proceeds to walk the length of me to my shoulder and makes a noise. In other words hey woman get up and take me out for a pee and then feed me. |
Tee hee! I can just imagine. Katie Scarlett does sort of the same thing, except her licking object is my husbands face. Since he works odd hours he is not in the bed with us every night. She does not sleep in the bed with us all night, but I do let her up there before I go to sleep and in the mornings when I wake up for a bit. If Brandon is in the bed, she goes to town licking (we call it puppy kisses) for a good 5-15 minutes. If Brandon is not in the bed, she licks my hand. I just let her be since she seems to enjoy herself. LOL. |
Kaci does something we call digging for snakes..she walks all around in her bed then starts digging as fast as she can walks around some more , then digs up a storm..then settles down to sleep |
Cheyenne licks toes....ever woken up to something licking your toes? During the night? Just what she does..........She sleeps by my feet (or hubbys for a change in taste I guess...) |

As a new puppy I would hold ZoE inside my zippered hoodie, throw the hood up, and she'd nuzzle her face against my neck inside the hood. She still likes to do this if she wants to nap when home during the day. It was fine when she was tiny. RIGHT NOW, I have a 7lb ZoE sleeping inside my hoodie...one hand is cupping her butt so she doesn't slide down my belly, the other typing:p |
