What a neat idea! I will have to remember that if KS ever gets barky. I am still shocked now that she hasn't been barky. So many tell me that they had yorkies who were yappy, but she isn't at all. She gives a little ruff here and there, but other than that she is as quiet as a mouse. She will bark a few times when she hears something outside or is excited, but if I say 'enough' or the words 'time out' she quietens down really quick. |

But he actual doesnt bark hardly ever only when Ive ignored him too long, lol |
Just read this post.....I have 5 Yorkies and thankfully, only 1 is a barker. Bubbles. She is very excitable, especially when a game of fetch is happening. 4 will be fetching and she combines barking with it! Drives me NUTS!!! She also goes crazy when the hubby drives in from work. They were trained with the verbal "no barking", but not Bubbles. Pennies in a can cause her to run, but still bark, "smack", the verbal command causes her to jump out of reach but continue to bark. So far, nothing has worked for her. Hubby says to just let her comunicate, but it still drives me bonkers. |
I'm not really sure how to stop the barking when company is over. I read the sticky already and am trying to say "bark" every time he barks. And then when should I start in with "enough". Also we aren't suppose to treat them when they stop barking right? He is pretty behaved and quiet with me but when my bf is over he barks at him a lot to play. We tried ignoring and also putting him the crate for short amounts of time. He thinks water is fun. Threw out my can of coins when he stopped biting when excited. |
I swear Gracie thinks she can talk. When she wants something she barks. When she is playing real hard she will bark. She is not excessive about it though. I know what she wants usually. The only time I ever have to say something is when she is in a crazy spell and chasing her ball and throwing it around and barking at it. She gets a bit carried away and I have to tell her no. She will stop and walk over and look at me as if to say "are you serious?" I tell her "I mean it!" She will sit down and give me the pouty look. My other dogs never barked so I think it is a bit of a Yorkie thing. I have to say she has me well trained when she wants something like her supper or to go out. |
