When do yorkies calm down? Do they ever? Stomper turned 1 years old on 11/27/05. He is such a brat sometimes...he decided to eat the wiring for the x-mas tree lights, eats the toilet paper, etc. Do they ever grow out of this or will this be forever????!!! |
Mine still do things too so it might just be the dog in them and they always stay that way. I found chewed up crayons all over my floor today. |
YOu mean they actually are suppose to calm down? :P lol |
lets see...........brownie is 4 and still a brat ! just not hyper anymore he never really was tho |
I once heard that if a dog always gets into things and chews them up it is because he is intelligent and needs more stimulation than a less intelligent dog that is content to sit around and do nothing. So consider it a good thing and just buy lots of fun toys to intertain your dog and keep him busy. |

If anyone knows can you fill me in? I've got a 2 year old and a 3.5 year old and they are feisty, crazy, hyper, and silly ;) |
Ditto for my 16 month old. She is into everything and constantly looking for fun. Yesterday she was trying to figure out how to get up on the counter where her bully stick was. I take it away from her when I am not in the room with her. So I come in the room and she is on the fifth stair trying to leap to the bar that connects to the kitchen counters. If she were any bigger we would be in deep deep trouble. |
It really depends on the dog. We have four and really the only one that acts older...calm...100% lap dog.... is our "granny dog" Zaylee and she is only 9 months old!! |
I have found the answer and it is doggy daycare. I will go without something to send him for the day because he is a lap dog for 3 days after and I LOVE that! :-) We also do classes and i'm thinking about Rally...? |
I think it also depends on how you like them to act, too. If you love them to come racing to the door and get all excited and silly, they do. If you teach them to be calm and quiet, they are that, too. If you went too far and have to go back the other way - it can be accomplished, too. That is how truly smart they are! |
One way I can get my KimMee to calm down is to put clothes on her, she really doesn't like clothes on and will sit still in one spot while she is being tortured by me cause I think she is cold. :aimeeyork |
1 Attachment(s) That is funny, I shaved Robyn a couple of weeks ago and it got cold this week. I put a sweater on her and all she would do is lay down and shiver. |
I sure hope they do. I haven't had a puppy in a very long time until the last year or so. I got my Aussie at 3 months and he never really acted like a puppy. I got my Yorkie at 3 months and boy are they night and day. My Yorkie is content to play constantly and my Aussie is content to lie around. The other day I had my Yorkie on my lap in the car (I know....a no no-should have him a car seat) and I was talking on my cell phone through my ear plug and he chewed right through it WHILE I was talking. Yeah...I kept on talking for a bit before I realized that I couldn't hear them anymore. Little devil!!! |
