She never gets tired!!! My 7 month old yorkie loves to play, chase balls, run around, walk, etc......but it never seems to be enough! She has so much energy and even though we walk every day and play everyday she still wants some more! I cant play with her all day but if she sits still for a while she will go crazy and start running around like crazy and then will take all her toys out and run around......she takes the toys to my other yorkie for him to play but he is more mellow and likes to sleep so she gets frustrated and annoyed.... I´m running out of ideas of what to do with all her energy?! Any thoughts? |
We get our Dex on his back and rub his tummy, sometimes My Wife rocks him like a baby, when all else fails in the pen for a while. |
I know it can be tiring but then when I think of the times they are sick or even lost one, it makes you appreciate all that energy. Maybe she will settle down when she gets alittle older. Kayla will throw toys up in the air and play by herself if she can't get one of the others to chase her. lol!!! They are little messes but wouldn't change them for the world. Just give her a big kiss and let her run. Ha! |
That is all that puppy energy. In a couple yrs when shes less active you will miss that energy right now i know it drives you crazy though be patient |
I've owned 2 Yorkie pups and both behaved like that their first year before mellowing out. All I can suggest is to increase walk time and increase brain time. Pick a time every day where you work on tricks or obedience or something that makes them think. That can wear them out almost as much as exercise. I find routines are important. If the dog knows that walk time is at this hour and learning time is at that hour, they learn to relax in between. Good luck! It will get easier. |
I too have a energizer Yorkie, Prissy has so much energy. After some play I will put her in her playpen or crate and she will usually take a nap and then I can get some work done. I think at times they don't realize that they are tired and we need to make time for them to rest. Does this make sense? I'm just doing what I did when my skin kids were little. |
My Roxy is a go go go girl, too. She turned 4 earlier this month. I guess she was just born this way. She fetches endlessly. |
When my cat was a kitten, I didn't get any sleep for two years! Cats are nocturnal so she was up all night getting into all kinds of trouble. She would knock lamps over, or play with the string on the blinds, one night I awoke to her almost choking herself playing with the blinds. Everytime I moved she would attack me. Boy that was a rough two years. That was 13 yrs ago. Even though she is much more mellow now she still has her moments where I can hear her getting into something she's not supposed too. Truth is only age will mellow them out. |
