Question about pet stairs Just wondering what kind of pet stairs do some of you have. Milo needs them for the bed. |
We have these that we got at Bed, Bath, & Beyond on sale for $14.99. They are ok, but not too tall. We use them so KS can get up and off of the couch. I need taller ones for our bed if we choose to do that. We have a tall bed. These are portable and we like them though. Can't beat the price too. Animal Planet Pet Stairs - Bed Bath & Beyond (they are on clearance for $12.99 now.) They are perfect for a Yorkie since they are lighter, but I don't think these would be good for a really heavy dog. But they work for us. Hope that helps some! :) |
Thanks, I looked at them but i really need them to be a little taller tho. Right now I have a bench at the end of our bed and he uses that but he also has LP so i dont want him jumping so much. |
I built a free standing ramp for mine, was easyer than I thought, covered it with foam and fabric, she gets so much use out of it, it was worth it. She'll slide down it when she's lazy and needs to go potty and when shes hyper she uses it as a toy, she'll take a ball to the top of the ramp, nudge it with her nose , fetch with herself lol, plus she'll have it for life, easy on the hips when she gets older:) |
I have been looking for stairs too....I need them 3 feet high...Not very inexpensive!! I was going to make some out of foam...to get blocks of foam would cost more than to buy them....I was also thinking a ramp would work.. |
I bought this one at Petco, last summer when we got a new bed that is a lot higher than the old one and Harry boy and Prada needed more hight to get on the new bed. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...r/IMG_0776.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...IMG_0777-1.jpg hugs, |

I have been looking at the pet gear one's and i think thats the one's i am going to buy. They have a pretty good price. Thanks |
Just make sure you measure how tall they are they come in 2,3,&4 step high. They all have different measurements. Sometimes they appear quite high but are only 13". I had to do a lot of searching. I thought I would want something made out of wood but realized that they are heavy and harder to move around for cleaning under. |
My husband actually hand made ours for our lil girls, Mags is the only one who uses them though, Jazzie thinks she has wings and flies off the bed. Wished she wouldn't, but I can't stop her, she's so fast. |
Dog Steps - Dog Stairs - Dog Steps for Beds - Fast Shipping! I have two sets of wooden stairs covered in carpet. I don't trust her going up the foam stairs at a run and not knocking them over and getting hurt. That would defeat my purpose, so I invested in something that is safe and very sturdy. They last a lifetime, so I think it is a wise investment as well. |

Does everyone think the 16" high would work ok for a 22-23" bed? It's pillowtop so hard to measure exact height. It is all low profile though. I think the Pet Gear Step III 23" steps would be overall big as far as footprint taking up a lot of my bedroom. Strange the Step II that are only 16" height have the same 22.5" depth listed as Step III??? I like that they come in diff colors although not sure what the diff between cocoa and tan would be. Maybe do chocolate. I have dark and cherry woods throughout home. |

I have a friend who has this ramp and swears by it! They sell extensions for high beds. PawSteps - 4 lb Easy Pet Ramp for your Pets |

They are very sturdy and the specs say they will hold up to 150lbs though I haven't tested them for that. |

We built our own. Did most the work on a Saturday afternoon. Used a handsaw, hammer, and cordless drill. You could use power tools if you choose. I have them, but i like the handsaw for some reason. Anyway, i'll post some pics in bit, when i have time to transfer them to my computer. If you like, pm me and i'll send you the plans i drew up. They are for a 23" tall bed, but you can adjust as needed. We have bought stairs in the past, but got tired of the exorbitant prices. If you have the time, its much more cost effective, usually more sturdy, and you can make them look just the way you want. It can be fun too. We had a good time making them together(my wife and I). Dickie just tried to chew on the scrap wood the entire time. |

Hubby built steps for our two. They are from wood and he put carpet on them! They are great! |
