HELP!! re: Crate size and potty training! Ok so I am crate training Daisy when I leave the house. Otherwise I take her outside every hour or so...depending on what Im doing. She's been doing great that way...only messing outside when Im home..... but when I put her in the crate.............she keeps pooping and peeing in it! And I KNOW she is capable of holding it as she holds it all night while in my bed. So I have a ?. The crate is VERY large. Could that be why? Should I put her in something smaller, that she can turn around only in...to eliminate her from messing in it? itzs a mess in there now! The blanket is all messy, its on the floor (its a metal wire crate) and it was on her! So could it be the size? I dont know what else to do?? |
I would say to reduce the size of the crate. Hopefully if it's only large enough to her to turn around in, she won't mess where she has to lay. Good luck! |
Amy, I purchased a 30" crate off of e-bay for our puppy. It came with a divider so you can make the crate smaller. He went in the crate a few times but soon figured it out. I was going to buy another crate (because now we had 2 yorkies) but soon found out that they both prefered to stay in the one crate together. I purchased one of those lambswool bedliners for it and I think they actually like it. I would leave the puppy in for longer and longer times to get used to holding off peeing. It seems to have worked. Now they both know that when we leave the house they have to go into there lil (bed). Soon as we get home we let them out and they both run for the door...Hope this helps you out. :aimeeyork |
Amy, you asked on another thread about panties for Christmas time when you are visiting other people. Here are some on the YTNR site. They even have a Christmas print, but you can't choose a color with the others they sell. http://www.yorkierescue.com/storelist.html |

Ok-- but I dont want to just use the diapers around the house, do I? How is that going to train her? Just keep it on till I go outside with her? Dont want to confuse her? |
