spaying and neutering cost...
 

I was wondering about how much it cost anyone to get their yorkie fixed. I just fixed my 23lb blue heeler/border collie and it was $140. I didn't know since with him it went by weight if it would be slightly less to fix a yorkie or not.

Sophia was $180. It included the pre surgery bloodwork & pain meds

I guess it depends on where you go, size, and sex. I ask my regular vet how much it would be to neuter my male pit and they said $240. Needless to say I kept searching around.

Its tbe same at myvet no matter what size I believe its$150 for a spay and $140 for a neuter but that was a yr ago so im sure its went up a little

We are going through that now. I am in NJ and the prices for vetting here have gotten out of control. A spay that three years ago would have cost under $400.00 has not rocketed to $675.00. A vet visit use to be $49 and now is $67. Dental (just a cleaning without extractions) is not $470.00. It has gotten where you can't even afford vetting anymore. I've been with my vet hospital for the past 16 years now, but honestly when we rescued our last Yorkie a few weeks ago, I looked into other places. I am having her spay done at Popcorn Park Vet clinic (humane society) for $150.00. Her pre-appointment which included her vaccinations, as well as blood work and heart worm test and exam was $121. Comparing that to what my vet charged me for her, when I took her in the first days I had her it was a big savings. My appointment with my vet for her, just for a stool check and exam was $84. This included nothing but him looking at her and the stool check. Dental at the vet clinic is $180.00 much more affordable. It kills me to switch and take my crew here for this kind of stuff, but I have to be honest. I vet seven for the past 16 years same vet and now an 8th and when I asked today about a discount on the spay for Gianna (who they know was a rescue that we took after she was hit by a car) they said they only have a discount for people on Food Stamps or Welfare. So, to me that was a slap. They will give a discount to a stranger who is on public assistance, yet a client with them that long they will not. Kind of pissed me off. My husband was more aggrevated, he said if they can't pay for their own food and are on food stamps then they shouldn't have a pet they need to pay for food for and vet. I know he didn't mean it, but honestly to some degree I agree with him. Elaine

I just got Brandy done.. Her vet wanted $350 for the whole shabang..But I couldn't afford it.. She suggested I do it at the ASPCA mobile clinic which cost $25.under the table she told me her niece dose it. Her niece did Brandy and funny thing was the bus was close to to the vet..so I did it at the mobile clinic and she gave me two free f/u ..I have to go back tue for the sec one. Brandy seems to be doing well. and she not in any pain and shes getting the rest she needs.. DH also got her a new creat and bed as a get well.. she hates the bed though..lol good luck

Abby's bill was $218 with spay, meds and teeth extractions. Maybe just a little more than Ziva two years ago. I considered the low cost spay/neuter clinic but I had so much trouble with my wheaten's spay 10 years ago (ripping out stiches AND replacement staples) our vet was great and kept her for two days at no charge, it was worth the peace of mind.

Wow, sounds like I got hosed (but I love our vet). In '09 when Romeo was neutered I paid $950!

Just got the quote for Emma's spay next month and it will be $150 including everything. I am going to have her micro chipped at the same time!

I wanted to do micro chipping but I don't know much about it? it was only $20 for it..

I went through one of our humane society offices and only paid $50 each... I chose from their list of participating vets and they scheduled the appointment for me. I would microchip at the same time - some vets discount if you combine services.

Just and FYI, Friends of Animals sells spay / neuter certificates for $90 for a spay, BUT when I called a vet in Toms River that participates they said the $90 for the certificate does not include blood work which they require which would cost an additional $138, and it does not include the office visit which is $61.50 and it does not include the stool sample they require which my guess would be around $40 so in the end you are saving some but not much and here in NJ the best route seems to be the $150 through Popcorn Park or if I want to travel 50 miles I can get it done for $100.00. I cannot believe how expensive the vetting is in this state as to others posting. It cost more for the vets then a pedatrician visit for God's sake. UGH.

When we had Katie Scarlett in for her surgery, they also did her microchipping then. For the chip, the surgery, bloodwork, anesthesia (spelling?), pain meds, etc. it was $240.

I just had Harrison neutered today, it was $125.00 for the blood panel and $105.00 for the neutering, $15.00 for the antibiotic, $25.00 for pain injection and $15.00 for pain medication. to take home.. for a total of $285.00

I live in central NY. I get many stray and feral cats spayed and neutered at the local shelter for $75.00 & & 85.00 and that includes their shots.
I took Gracie to my vet to get her spayed. All the vets around here charge by weight. They say it is because of the anesthetic charge. Gracie weighted 4.5lbs when she was spayed. She also had a dew claw removed and she was chipped. I payed $214.00.
