Questions about lost Yorkie 1 Attachment(s) I lost my Yorkie Mix 12/22/11 Have posted fliers over 300 of them. Have walked numerous miles. Have went to the pounds on both sides of town almost every chance I get. Have went to only shelter I can find near me. I have posted ads in Craigslist, facebook, petfinder and a couple off the wall places. I live in Glendale, Az Is there anything else I can do to recover my lost baby Skittles? She was seen 4 blocks from our home at local grocery store being picked up by a woman in a dark car. I have seen no fliers of found dog or any posts. Poolman came into our yard letting the dogs out of the yard. recovered the daddy and the two boys we kept from her one litter. She was fixed after that! |
Sorry that you lost your baby. Did you run an add in your local news paper ? & check the lost/found in the paper? |
Have you seen this site? Here's a list of dogs found around Greenvile KY. Found Dogs - Fido Finder This one that they call a Carin Terrier looks similar to yours, but what I'm trying to say, is don't overlook different breeds. Found Dog - Found Cairn Terrier in Nashville, TN - Fido Finder This is the home page, and I would add your dog to the lost section. Lost Dogs - Fido Finder - Where Lost Dogs Are Found They also have lots of tips on what to do. I just noticed you say you live in Glendale, I saw you location by your avatar. |
Thank you all I'm not sure why but when I logged on it said I was from Greeneville Ky? I changed it hopefully. Thank you for the ideas of Fidofinder. I have been looking there. Also papers wasn't able to afford a ad when she disappeared. we are pretty sure she was taken by someone and kept as their own. Really upsetting that they would not look for rightful owner! I have also posted at all hospitals and vets in area that I know about and was suggested by shelter. I really miss our :animal36 |

You are in my prayers that you will find your sweet baby, Never give up.We have a member on here that found her baby after a year. |
Yes it was hard on us, My wife stayed at home 2 weeks crying her eyes out. my kids stopped opening gifts when we mistakenly opened a gift meant for skittles. I have had 3 blisters lanced on my feet from walking in different neighborhoods. unfortunately she is not chipped. she was spayed pretty much after she had her pups 2 yrs ago. Witness who is pretty sure she saw her getting taken from the grocery store knows she had no collar. which we found 5 days later between our house and the store. oldest the husband is chipped He found his way back home. youngest two of her litter she had 2 yrs back were picked up and returned to us Christmas eve. they were picked up 3 blocks from our house and already had their collars off! Also not chipped. We have also been debating on neutering them. Never really thought about chipping them until recently. Husband likes to run down the street to visit a female shepard ?? Like really the dog is like 75 lbs !! He weighs 10 maybe 11 lbs ! But if he leaves the yard they all follow until they start to wander. Skittles smells flowers and forgets what she is doing most likely how she was seperated. Dad well we know what he went to do and how he lost the rest of the pack. The boys they heard the kids getting out of school and high tailed it over there to play. |
My boyfriend's mom manages the Sun Valley Animal Shelter in Glendale, I forwarded your message on to her to see if she's heard or seen anything. |
My daughter is a Vet with Banfield in N Central Phoenix - I sent her your picture & post. You may want to post pictures with REWARD at your local Petco and Petsmart stores. You and Skittles are in my prayers :aimeeyork |
Praying that you get your Skittles back soon! Only a thoughtless person would decide to hold on to someone else's baby. I hope her conscience gets the better of her and convinces her to return Skittles. |

Thank you for all the post of encouragement, Sorry took so long to answer have been looking for Skittles and working a new shift. Ugh work in morning again ! :-) |
Just another idea....is it a large grocery store where they saw that woman pick Skittles up? If it is a neighborhood store, maybe they can tell you if she is a regular customer there? Maybe they have a surveilence camera and you could possibly get a license plate #? Not even sure if they would pull the tape for you since to most people, "it is just a dog"......I hope you get her back soon! |
I am SO sorry to hear about your lost little lady...I can't even imagine!! As someone already said...put up posters...maybe saying that a woman in a dark car at (whatever store) was seen picking her up....maybe if you say that she is sick and needs meds this would help...Unfortunately yorkies are the #1 dog for theft :(....That being said..if someone took her they probably aren't going to return her...(I HATE to say that! ) Being chipped doesn't always mean you will get them back either....it would take an honest person to bring them to a vet and tell them they found the dog and ask to scan them.. Maybe go to the store where she was seen being taken and ask people if they saw anything..I hope a pray they return your little girl... |
Wow, I am sorry to hear this. My ex-wife lost my dog a few weeks ago. She brought her to the bar she owns all the time, and one night my girl wandered off. I am so lucky to have found her. Someone turned her in. She also lost our older Yorkie the exact same way, 4 months earlier. I did not find that one. :( I did the same thing you did. 100's of flyers. Kijiji, Backpage, Craigslist, Pet Lynx and more. I put flyers up in local grocery stores. I also contacted a few dozen radio stations and a few put it on the air, most put it on their facebook or twitter. I got her out of the pound about 4 days after she went missing but had I not found her I was going to go to tv stations as well. I also offered $1000 reward, and would have probably doubled that easily. I know what I did seems excessive but my dog is very small and she does not adapt well to social situations she is not familiar in. If someone had kept her, they would have been disappointed as she shuts down when around other people. She also has a sensitive stomach so to me it was urgent to get her back. Someone suggested to you going back to the grocery store and that is exactly what I would do. People are creatures of habit and that woman who grabbed your baby probably has been there many times before. I would put up posters there, and also maybe hang around there the time your dog went missing. I know I go shopping around the same time consistently. Also maybe have the mangers talk to the staff to see if they could offer help. And if your dog has special needs such as diet, medication, can't be around other dogs etc. mention it a lot. It might guilt the person who took Skittles, and she may not even realize she has somebody else's dog that cares so much. I hope you find her and don't give up. I went through similar and it just destroyed me. But you have to keep looking and don't give up because your dog is patiently waiting for you to find her and guaranteed she is not giving up on you! :) |
Free To Good Home Adorable Yorkie Have you seen this Ad? I found several listing for people missing their yorkie in Pheonix, very scary. She doesn't say she found this dog but says it doesn't get along with her large dog. |
Many newspapers will run free lost and found ads for you. I would give them a call. Some areas have local flyers that go out every week that you could also post a very inexpensive ad in. Don't give up keep publishing her. Sometimes it takes time for word of mouth to get around. Keep putting up flyers. There was a thread on here not too long ago about a lady whose Yorkie was taken from her in a bar. A friend of the thief turned her in because he knew it was not her dog. Keep putting up posters. Radio stations also many times will run free lost ads for your pet. Many people will want to help you, just reach out and try every avenue. Grocery stores, post offices, and other public places will let you post her picture with her info on a poster. List her as a terrier. Generally people have an idea of what a terrier might look like. Sometimes it can take months or even more but the more persistent you are the better chance you have of getting her back. |
