I have seen many dogs that have weight issues..it's sad b/c people think by giving them everything they want is showing love..One thing our vet said is to be careful with their foods and especially human fatty foods. I asked her once what was the most that Yoshi can weigh and be healthy, she told me 13 lbs...he has always been under that..even though now he feels heavier but I think it is b/c Prissy is so little. |
Obesity in pets is so sad. I agree that some people think that they are showing love by overfeeding, or giving table scraps, or giving too many treats. I monitor Levi's food intake like crazy and make sure he gets lots of exercise. I want him to stay toned and healthy! |
So sad. As a personal trainer I have at least one client with a yorkie that is a little over weight and she confesses, "my dog is like her owner", unfortunately there's alot of truth to that. But she is working out and taking the her pup for walks on nice days. |
Wow that's just sad. I can understand a dog that gains a little bit like maybe a half a pound overweight (depending on size) and just cutting back food. But there's no excuse for that image. |
It is sad that so many pets are obese and unhealthy. Untill people start really seeing obese as what it is unhealthy we will have this problem with pets and people. We need to stop trying to please our pets with food and treats and make sure they are getting adequate exercise |
