Wearing a harness with outfits? When we go out in public, I would love for Sophie & Sam to wear their cute outfits, but I also want them to have a harness and leash on. We have some harness/dress and harness/vest combo ones that we've had made, but I want them to wear their cute sweaters and tees too. When your furbabies have their cute clothes on, do they wear their harness under the outfit or over it? What brands of harness do you think works best for each of these situations? |
Mine wear it under it |
Depends on the outfit. If one has the little slit in the back, than the harness goes under the outfit. If not, the harness goes over. The best kind that I like to use, and it's still fashionable IMO, is the Buddy Belt. |
I have put the harnesses over the clothes...when I wasn't planning on them being on leads...for things like 'relief' walks. If they are going to likely be on a lead at some point, I put a harness under the clothes, and then just clip the lead to the harness through the 'slot in the garment. The harness is almost undetectible. :D |
I love the Buddy Belt Harness because you can easily wear it under or over clothes, no awkward adjustments to make, just a buckle. Most of the time the boys are wearing clothing, and so I put the harness on over the clothing when we go for a walk, but some days they need no clothing inside or outside so they just wear the harness alone. |
We have the Buddy Belt- It is really easy for us to put his harness over his clothes. |

The buddy belt looks so nice....looks great over outfits! P.S. Yorkie Talker Maximo sells Buddy Belts....her customer service is awesome!!! |
IMHO the harness should go underneath, otherwise it ruins the look of the outfit. I like the step in kind with the velcro back closure and then the two clips that join at the neck, it's almost like a mini vest and comfty. Most of the clothing will have a back slit, but if it does not, I just pull the leash out from the back of the collar area. My problem is that Lola's harness is bright pink so some if it will show on the sides, so I am going to get some black ones to blend in more with her hair color and not be so noticeable. |

Ok ladies...what is the buddy belt harness? Teddy and Piper both have a step in harness. Is the buddy belt different? Also, Nancy...what do you use when you walk the two? Do you use two separate leashes? |

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ial-offer.html My avatar picture shows them walking on a coupler I made, the ones in the store were so short that they couldn't lift their legs up to pee without peeing on the other one. I had a couple of cheap leashes from the dollar store and just added a d ring to them. Most the time when we walk hubby goes along, and so we each have one dog. I'm told couplers shouldn't be used if there is a big difference in sizes of the dogs. |
I normally just put Callie's over her clothes. The buddy belt seems to blend with her clothes pretty well. |
I agree the Buddy Belt does seem to add that little spice to the outfit. Anytime I have Pnut in sweaters or shirts and he has his BB on, he gets more complements on his Buddy Belt than his shirt!! Haha |
It depends on the outfit. If it has a slot for the d-ring, I put Kiko's harness under the clothes. If it doesn't have a slot, I put it over the top. |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a pic I found of Pnut with his BB on. This was right after he had a haircut and he was with Mommy getting my hair cut!! I love how the BB looks, with or without clothes on!! |
