Ella's spay.. Good morning everyone! I am home sick with the stomach bug:( so I thought I would post and ask what things you had before hand for your baby's spay? I have gotten a comfy cone collar and an octagon pen and some potty pads and diapers just in case.. I am very nervous about this whole thing .. She is going on Friday and I am staying home with her the whole weekend but will that be enough time for her to recover?? Thanks for all your help I know I have a lot of questions :) |
Ah I will be thinking good thoughts for her! I am sure she will do just fine! Peanut really didn't eat so I boiled him some chicken, I also gave him some Pedalight to drink :D |
A baby onsie is better to use than a cone because they cant eat with the cone and they really dont like the cone also |
What size did you get preemie? She is about 5 pounds.. |
2 Attachment(s) The best thing I learned from yorkie talk was the baby onesie!! When I put the e-collar on Riot, he slowly sunk his head down until it was on the floor and would not move for 15 minutes. I even rang the doorbell to get him to move and he wouldn't. So off to the store I went! I actually found a 5 pack on sale for a couple dollars that all had different puppies on them lol. He was around 4lbs I think and they were the newborn size but just a little big. |

I hope you get to feeling better! Stomach bugs are no fun at all! I also hope the spay surgery goes well! I too got diapers and they really helped us. KS had quite a few tee tee accidents after the spay. I got a onesie from WM too through advice of my fellow YT'ers. KS never even tried to pick at her stitches but I kept the onesie on a lot anyways. She recovered a lot better than I expected. I did restrict her movement, but by day 3 she seemed like her old self. Will keep you guys in our prayers! :) |
1 Attachment(s) I used a onesie, but I cut a hole in the bottom of the backside. That allowed her to go potty without having to remove the onesie, while still protecting the incision from anything that might be on the floor or the ground. It's good that you can be there for the weekend. She should be much better by Monday, and most bounce back even quicker than that. |
I'm sure your baby will do fine! I bought a cone for Sophia, and like a lot of yorkies, she's really stubborn! So, I was sure I was going to need it. Much to my surprise, she didn't even try to touch her stitches from her spay or hernia repair (which was done at the same time). She did have a couple accidents in the house the day she came home and the day after. OH.. and she was SUCH a snuggle buddy during the few days after the surgery. All she wanted to do was cuddle! |
