beginners advice please hi i have a yorkie girl and have done a load of research over the last few years. but not enough yet:) i am thinking of breeding her but not till later in the year. i was wondering where i could go to get helpful advice....... i know about most of the medical side and how to deal with most emergencies and how to look after the mum before during and after. i tried going to the local vet to get info...their reply was if you don't know you should not be doing it then was told to get her spayed. (i dont want to that and i keep her indoors during her season) i am trying to find out all the things i need in a puppy kit and what the best type of whelping box is. i dont want go go into this blind so any help would be good. i looked at loads of youtube vids and have read every book i can find and non of them show the puppy kit (without advertising products) if i cant find all the info i wont do it as she is my best friend and dont want to put her in danger...i will be asking for help from the owner of the boy dog too:) |
Don't breed your Yorkie. Leave it to the experts. Get your little girl fixed. |
You need to post this in the breeders section so they will see and advise. You should start with researching the yorkie breed and what constitutes a quality yorkie to breed. Then you need to get health testing done. Then your ready to talk about whelping and whats needed. Good luck |
lol i couldn't find the breeding section..... good start (she says as her yorkie looks aehe with rolling eyes  ) she has a clean bill of health at the moment but will check again closer to the time. where do i find the breeding section? how can i tell if the male dog has had surgery for luxating patellas? i was told yorkies prone to the problem |
i found the breeding section....have re posted in there |

Do not breed your dog, leave that to the professional breeders who get their dogs checked for all the problems. Why would you want puppies, is your dog show quality, does she have her championship? Will you be adding to the quality of the breed? If you can not answer yes to these questions then get her spayed. |
Just do the right thing and spay her. |
dont be offended but.........i am only after info on what i would need to do before during and after IF i decide to do it. i have diplomas in animal care and know the science behind genetics and will be checking her top to toe. |
Well you don't have any experience in breeding so I hope if this is something you want to do you do A LOT of research! |

i will....i am reading everything.....including the bad stuff. she is still too young so have time to decide. i am registered with a vet and the male dog i was told about is owned by an experienced breeder |
Why is it you want to breed? |
i would keep 1 pup from the litter as a pet. and the others if there are any will either become hearing dogs or be housed with friends who have been looking to get one. if they cant find homes they will stay with me |
