Make your own belly bands - without sewing!
 

I LOVE MY OWN IDEA --- It works so well.

I love belly bands. I bought some for my bichon, but I wasn't happy with the ones I bought for several reasons, and I thought they were too expensive.

For my Yorkie, I went out and bought a couple dozen washcloths - the thinner, smaller, less expensive ones. (These come in packs of a dozen for a few dollars.) I fold them over in an elongated fashion and make whatever width I want. (After being folded - each end is one of the corners.)

Then I wrap them snugly around my little Yorkie' belly, overlap them across the top, and pin them with a large safety pin -- or diaper pin.

REASONS I LIKE THEM

The folded cloths are several thinknesses and are very absorbent (for a little dog).

Because of the way they are folded they are almost a little stretchy, and along with the terry cloth texture, they can be put on snugly and will stay in place and not move around.

They are flat and your dog can wear clothes over them - You can't even tell he's wearing one of these when he had clothes on over them.

These are inexpensive, easy to buy, and you can even borrow one (a wash cloth) if you need to when you are out visiting.

You can have an unlimited supply.....dozens of these for very little money.

The thing I love most is that I can just throw them in with the rest of my laundry.

-------- Because I have so many of these and because they are so washable, I take them off my dog even if he is only slightly damp.

------- I really do like these better than any of the belly bands I purchased.
The price is right, and I have a lot of them. And they work great!!!

Hope I explained how to fold them correctly - but, I'm sure anyone can figure that out.

***** Give it a try - if you're not happy with them, you'll have more wash cloths and won't have wasted your money.

Thanks for the idea Carol Jean. I have been using ace wraps (hand me downs from my dad..he has bad legs :( ) I cut them into two pieces they have velro ends. But I like your idea... Thanks

That's a good idea and would be much cheaper. I can't
believe how much some places charge for those things!
The only problem I would have is my Yorkie is more like
Yorkie the Pig and I would probably have to use hand
towels to fit his big old gut...

Thanks for the info. Any way to save $$ is a wonderful thing. I will definitely keep this in mind if Piper starts acting up again ;)

Me again --- I used these for my bichon also ---and he is much larger than my Yorkie.

But - what I had for him were just larger cloths. I think they were some sort of a cleaning cloth. Terry cloth and white. My daughter brought me a ton of them from the furniture store where she works.

The wash cloths overlap quite a bit on my 5 lb Yorkie - so, they would work on a dog that is quite a bit larger then he is.....

I know a girl that would put a sock around her male and pin it on top. She said it kept him from marking.

Thanks for sharing! What a great idea.. I've bought a couple belly bands and wasn't very pleased.. But I bought one that's made of what seems to be stretchy sock material and it's great! It wasn't expensive and has velcro. I always put a maxi pad on it just in case but love it bc it was so cheap and easy to use.
