Question for breeders or anyone who may know. I have had this need to know what happen to my 1st yorkie..Before I got Mason I bought a female yorkie she was 8 weeks old, very tiny when they told me I could take her to my home. The breeder told me just to be careful and make sure she eats and potties. When I went into the room she was being held in with her family, she was off in the corner all alone and at times the other puppies would pick on her. I took her home after paying the lady "LOTS" of $$$, thank god it was a check. I got the puppy home, she wouldnt eat, drink or anything. I was worried so I gave it til the next morning...All night I watched her making sure she didnt get cold or die. I took a dropper and feed her some of the milk replacement I had bought at the petstore and everytime Id feed her she would throw up. I took her to my vet in the early morning and she said the puppy didnt look well and she wanted to run $600. in test on the puppy (OUCH)but she didnt think the puppy was healthy or was going to live. I didnt opt for the tests and called the breeder and let them know the Vet said she wasnt well and I wanted to bring her back to be with her Mom to see if maybe she would feed. They told me to bring her back that they thought the vet was full of it and to allow the puppy another week or so with its Mommy so I drove 3hrs to take her home. I called them to check on the puppy (Ashbey, which I had named her) and they said they force feed her a few days but she couldnt keep it down so they took her to the vet were at the vet she passed away:( The vet said she was bleeding out her rectum which she wasnt doing when I had her. The breeder tried to say my husband or I must have injured the puppy...I was totally offended!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt pay almost $2000.00 for a puppy to harm it, what an awful thing to say to someone!!! Anyway, does anyone have any idea what may have been wrong with my 1st baby? I am still so sad to have lost her:( Symtoms: Not eating/ drinking throwing up other puppies wouldnt play with her tired. |
:( I sure miss her...Ashbey Oooh and I did stoppay on the check I gave the breeder and she felt I shouldnt have done that because she felt she sold the puppy and it wasnt her problem anymore!!!! |
Awe, the poor little thing. How very sad and tragic. I can't help you with diagnosis but just feel so bad reading this. Was she walking around when she was still at the breeders? Was she steady on her feet or more wobbly? What were the living conditions like? Did the others look healthy? Did the Mother look healthy? Was she a LOT smaller than the others? |
.. She wasnt really walking much and yes alittle wobbly..Living conditions were clean and the mother was healthy and looked well taken care of. So sad!!! |
|
Was she a LOT smaller than the other puppies? Like half their size? |
size No...She was smaller but 1/2 the size...They called her tiny, the other puppies werent called tiny. The breeder has what they called extremely tiny, tiny and then just average. |

Oh, she's so cute! It must have broken your heart to take her back and then find out she passed. This is the other possibility that I can think of. I'm no expert, though. http://www.vet.utk.edu/clinical/sacs/shunt/faq.shtml After you read that, then you can read this: http://www.yorkielane.com/BadBreeders/bad_breeders.htm |
She was gorgeous.....how very sad. The truth is, it could have been many, many things. Did your vet do a fecal exam? I am sure the end result will be that you will always wonder what happened to her. I do hope she felt love in her little lifetime. |
Im so sorry for your loss. Ashbey was a gorgeous puppy. I really dont know what happened to her, maybe she had coccidia. I guess the vet that treated her should know. Enjoy your little Mason. |
Julie is right, it could have been many things. It is very sad to lose a little one, but there is no way to know. Your breeder was very cruel, but I am sure she was very sad, too. I am sure it was nothing you did, please don't worry about that. They are very delicate little guys. |
So sad to read about your little Ashbey :( If there is any good that came out of this it is that she was LOVED by you and I\'m sure just in the little time that you had her that she knew that. I have no clue as to what may have been wrong with her but I wanted to say I am so sorry for your loss. |
AWW she was a adorable baby . Thats so sad. |
pup Yours is a great post for people buying a puppy. If you go to get your pup and they are no acting like a normal puppy..nothing the breed says should make it alright. The pup should at least stand up, walk around, chase a toy when you toss it, play with littermates, act curious if you make a funny noise. You have to trust the breeder not to lie..the pup should be at least 12 weeks, eating well, no low blood sugar attacks..a vet check..AND you should talk to the breeders vet for a reference. This pup was not well long before you got it...there coudl be soooo many things..so sorry. |
