speyed hi i am getting my 6 year old yorkie speyed in 3 weeks time...i rescued her last November, she has not had a litter...has anyone had a yorkie 6years old done and had any problems?....and any help on how long it takes for yorkies to recover? my vet says 3 to 4 days...:aimeeyork |
get her spayed she will do fine, I retire my girls at age 5 and have them spayed, and never had a problem, I know of many maiden girls that get spayed after age 5 and do well.. best of luck.. she will take a few days to feel better remember to keep her from licking the insicion and she will be fine.. hugs, |
thanks for your reply...feel better now knowing she will be ok....she has had a tough life so far but she is settling down now and getting loads love so spaying is the next step as would hate her to have puppys at her age...:) |
no, we don't want any puppies at ther age she can die, like I said i retire my silky girls at age 5, is too much for a maiden bitch to have puppies at age 6. thank you for giving her the love she deserves.. hugs, |
1 Attachment(s) been to vets and booked sandy in to be spayed...will be done on the 24th this month all being well..as i only have the other owners word that she was in season last october...so as long as is showing no signs of going into season she will be spayed...:) |
the only thing I will recomend at her age is to have a complete blood panel done on her, I just had my former stud done at age 8 and before I scheduled his surgery I had a all the blood work done to make sure he is healthy and strong to go thru with the surgery, he was nurered last thursday. hugs, |
thanks for the advice..will get that done....hope ur babys ok after his surgery...:) x |
Welcome! Carmen gave you great advice. Just be sure to have the blood work done. It's something that should be done before being anesthetized for surgery. She'll do fine. Good luck and keep us updated. |
thanks...will keep u you updated...xxxx:) |
Hello and welcome... |
Welcome to YT. I agree you got good advice. Most good breeders do retire their females around age 5. And good breeders arrange for a spay before, placing them in a forever home. Unfortunately not all breeders have excellent ethics, like our own Carman. She is right about the pre- surgery labs too. You don't know her history compleatly, and labs are agood way to find out about any health issues she may have. I will keep her on my prayer list for Feb. 24th. |
