Desperate.... Prayers For Dottie I know this forum is for yorkies, but I hope it's ok to ask for prayers for our other furkids here as well. Dottie is my german shorthair pointer mix, she's 11 years old. I had to take her for x-rays yesterday (she was sick last week and labs were done, doc thought it was the new food that made her sick cause the labs weren't really bad, white count was up very lil, not even enough to need antibiotics.) The x-rays yesterday showed a very enlarged uterus, the doctor said it's either pyometra or cancer, either way, she HAS to have the surgery. They also found a mamallary tumor and severe arthritis in her spine. My regular vet isn't comfortable doing the surgery because he said with all that is going on with her, it's a serious surgery and he isn't equipped with what Dottie needs should things go wrong on the table. The facility that is doing her surgery can't get her in until Monday. They are closed on Monday, but the doctor said to bring her in and he will do the surgery then. If there are any cancelations before then, they have Dottie at the top of the list and they will do it sooner. I'm so sick with worry, Dottie is my heart and I'm scared to death of losing her. If you wouldn't mind, could you please send up as many prayers as possible for Dottie, that she can hang on until Monday and can pull through the surgery. Our regular vet said with her age, surgery itself can be fatal. Thank you in advance. |
Im so sorry!! You and Dottie will be in my prayers! Big hugs to you! |
I am so sorry that your family is going through this. We have a 15yr old shepard mix,I know how you feel. Caring for an older dog has been harder than caring for a puppy to me. I pray that she will be fine and will be thinking about ya'll Monday. |
Oh dear, I am so sorry you are going through this, really, I totally know how stressed you must be. I will pray for you and your Dottie. Is it possible to get her in to another specialist? Perhaps ask your vet for another referral? The emergency vets are usually trained in all this aren't they? Just trying to brainstorm cuz I know how long this weekend will be for you and Dottie. Please let us know how it goes. I feel so bad for the poor baby! Good Luck and if you need to; post often. |
Sending prayers for Dottie.. hugs, |
I am so very sorry this is happening to you and Dottie. I know how very scary and worrisome it is, not to mention how Dottie is actually feeling healthwise. I do so very much hope all goes better than you could ever dream of and that Dottie is completely well again before you know it. Our very best wishes to you for the speediest recovery ever!!! Lots of hugs coming your way from all of us! :hands::hands: :xfingers: :goodluck: :hands::hands: :love-hug3:hug60::ghug: |
keeping Dottie in my prayers. |
I will keep Dottie and you in my prayers. |
Sending prayers. |
I'm sorry :( Never let the sun set on a pyo. If that is in fact what it is and the uterus is this noticeably diseased the surgery is needed today. waiting could cost her her life very easily. Spinal arthritis should not complicate a spay. There are many vets that would be okay doing this. Please find one today. Cancelation or no cancelation..it's not right that they aren't doing this on an emergency basis. |

This...thanks Ellie for saying what needed to be said. Please, try to find an alternative for your baby, I know how hard it is but that place obviously doesn't have your poor baby's best interest at heart! So sorry.... |
Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers..(((HUGS))) |
Sending prayers..... |

The ER of The Ohio State University... They would be best at assessing whether this can wait. I know you want what's best for her. I'd just hate to see a dog pass when there are better odds if treated early. BTW my yorkie has spinal arthritis and extensive disc disease. She's does well generally. That's not a death sentence. She also has a small lump in her mammary chain that we are watching. She had a few per spay that went away after surgery. There is about a 75 percent chance that it isn't cancer. All that to say there is hope post spay. |
